    So terribly sorry to hear about your loss, and I know its suddenness only makes it harder to bear. Godspeed to Duncan, and all our best and warmest thoughts to you at such a desperately difficult time. Know in your sadness that he knew he was loved.

    Condolences here, too. I know this from experience: It is like approaching a beautiful garden only to have it disappear into a sinkhole at your feet. Remember the beauty and turn aside, but not away. In time, you will walk around the spot and not only will you continue your journey, but when you look back, you will see the hole has been filled with beauty again.

    Thank all of you for your kind thoughts and words.

    It's still very hard, but a friend of mine wrote something about how animals leave us with swiss cheese hearts because they don't usually last as long as we do. The holes never fill in, but they never consume all the love we have to offer.
