This is my warmblood mare who probably shouldn't be anywhere near as competitive at 1.30m as she is, let alone able to do the 1.40m (though she hasn't had to do anything that big since I moved my boy up):
I hesitate to post this, because right now we've gone back to basics and are learning dressagey things, but my jumper is as scopey as heck and built for it, I think. He's an OTTB, and before I decided to fill in some of our flatwork holes, we were schooling courses from 3'6" to 4'3". Now we trot. A lot.
Though I have to say that if you are looking for any similarities in conformation that make a 4' horse, you may find some, but the reality is that good jumpers have different types of conformation, some good, some bad, and some in between.
This is my best jumper currently. Not the best shot, but you get the point haha. He's currently actually only showing 3'6" because 'I' need more consistent show ring experience. He has been schooling 4' as if it doesn't exist and has free jumped 5'3....so I have complete confidence he'll continue to raise the bar.
He's off the track. He is 10 years old now and raced til he was 6, had a minor minor right front bow, took a year off and went into training. He's 16.2 and built pretty beefy. His g'pa on the dam's side is Halo
Bah, no conformation photos of my late AO jumper, he was perfect! Feeble attempt to show off horse, trotting: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-a...11273_2817.jpg
Free jumped to 5'6", brought me up to 1.30m in competition. Would have gone farther, but he suddenly passed away at a very young age.
Forestergirl99 ...... If you are interested in doing some research you can look up the Dam and Sire of some of the horses we have bred that are on the circuit and see their conformation since most of the pictures we have on our website are action pictures that I have purchased or have been sent by the present owners. There are some that I am sure have jumped 4 ft. but not on a regular show jumping course. The following horses I am sure of......
Centurion B ( Paloma G X Rebel IZ ) was 3rd in the 25,000 GP in Chicago last week and 2nd in the jumping derby.
Cielo B( Montana X Simsalabim ) won a modified GP last week in SC and Baccarat B (Paloma G X Rebel IZ )was 7th.
Dante B ( Tara B X Simsalabim ) won the Washington Classic last week in Chicago and his rider was Champion Adult rider at the show.
Wiebe B ( Montana X Rebel IZ ) was division champion of jr/Am Owner division at Gulfport in 2010
All Star B ( Montana X Branco ) used to jump 4 ft but I have lost track of him.
Concorde B ( Treasure B X Olympic Concorde )won many classes at 4 ft when he was ridden by Aaron Vale
Deja Blue B ( Song Sung Blue B X Simsalabim ) probably was jumped 4 ft before he retired to breeding.
I put the mares names first as you can look them up on our web site and they mostly have conformation pictures.
This may take some research and you may have to go to some other sites as well
but it also may help to draw some conclusions.
