Default Another Stallion Suggestions Thread -- Jumper for Wolkenstein II Mare

A friend has a Hanoverian MMB maiden mare by Wolkenstein II out of a Mister A/Laibach mare. She is looking for a jumper stallion to complement the mare. (Mare did the jumpers quite nicely until a tendon injury, now does dressage quite nicely.) She's very compact, fairly athletic, a bit on the small side by today's standards, good temperment. Would like to add some length of frame and leg. Suggestions please?

My stud Presidio has done very well with a Wolkenstein II - Lemon Park mare. Here are 2 of the babies:

    Default hi

What about a Sandro line-you may get a dressage horse but jumper blood is there, I am thinking S for refinement since your mare line is older. Otherwise I would saw a Raphel line or a F line-the F might give you a fancy hunter.

Do you know if she wants to stay with Hanoverian approved stallions?

Yeah...cuz if she's open to Holsteiner, I highly recommend Cunningham. He is consistently giving his long legs to his offspring. And, the temperament and jumping ability are "to die for..."

But, if she want's a Hanoverian, I love Landkonig - for the same reasons.

She's very open to non-Hanoverians. Sorry -- should have made that clear!

Not being a WB specialist makes any thoughts I might have less than valuable, but if she were mine, I'd look for one of the Jumper G or E line Hannoverian stallions or those stallions who have been designated by the German Hannoverian Verband for their jumper improvement program. The Hannoverians and American Hanoverian Association have made a major commitment to bringing back world class jumpers in their Association, and their recommendations are very thoroughly researched.

We have a Wolkenstein II - Domingo mare here that I bred twice to Don Alfredo and produced very good moving, jumping, hunter types. This Wolkenstein II mare is currently in foal for 2011 to Escudo I, which I am very excited about.

I also have an Escudo I x Wolkenstein II stallion, Edison, who competed successfully at Dressage (to 3rd Level) and is now at a BNT top hunter barn starting in the Hunter ring. He is a very scopey, careful jumper and could probably handle that ring as well.

Wolkenstein II's video on horse-gate shows him jumping, not dressage, which is interesting, FWIW.

Do you have a picture of the mare? And more pedigree info would be really helpful-

Pictures would be good to see. Schroeder (Sandro Hit x Escudo I) has the the Sandro Hit and the jumping ability in him for giving the leg.

Does it have to be fresh or frozen too?
