Default Anyone hear about the crazy lady....

At lake placid holding the LESLIE HOWARD IS A THIEF signs? Apparently she was just outside the show (on public property), and she also had Emil Spadone is a crook and Paul Valliere owes me money signs!!!!!

    YAYYY for crazy people

Unfortunately this is all the info I have, but I am sure faithful CoThers can add more....

If that is true, I think it would be so hilarious for other professionals to make signs about themselves and ask her to hold them up too.

Imagine if Val Renihan walked up and said, "Hi, I have this VAL RENIHAN IS A STRUMPET! sign, could you please hold this up too?"

    Priceless.

Huh. When we left after the Grand Prix on Sunday there was definitely someone holding signs and yelling something on the side of the road (if you turned right out of the showgrounds she was on the right just past the gate), but I was driving and couldn't read the signs. My fiance even said "Looks like someone is protesting something....I wonder what someone would be protesting at a horse show??? Crazy PETA person perhaps?"

    LOL....now I know it's just a crazy horse person

I feel like that lady was malingering outside the gates at Devon one day waaaaaaaaay early. It was me and maybe 2-3 other people there. She really missed the boat on the timing because she was yelling and no one was there to hear it.

Too bad for her that she hasn't figured out it's better to vent on COTH than by the side of the road.

She mustn't be very current. If she was she would know that Paul Valliere is not at a horse show.
This is the funniest thing I have heard in a while and someone needs to get to the bottom of it.
I will get on the phone and see what I can find out and will report if I get some news.

How do you tell the difference between:

    Crazy

    Not what You would do

    and

Ripped-off, pissed-off and out of ideas about how to get things set straight?

Where are the ambulance chasing lawyers when you need one? I bet they would love to take her case and see if they could sue these horse people (though probably not win).

Hey, I'm a "crazy PETA person"! Protesting rodeos, yes. Protesting horse shows, no. Although I might be tempted to picket the concession stands at our lovely events because there is never anything for me to eeeeeat. I've been veggie since my short stirrup days!

She may well be crazy, but it doesn't matter if the trainers are there or not, lots of other possible clients of them are, as well as possible professional contacts for sales, etc.

I'm with Tidy Rabbit - someone get her a laptop soon!

How do you draw that line? Getting rodeos and circuses banned is just the thin edge of the wedge. A case could easily be made that horse shows are no different.

Horses that show at "A" shows are on the circuit and traveling for a good part of the year. Most of the time they are in stalls with no turnout, or very little turn out.

Do you think it is "ethical" to strap a hunk of leather on a horse's back, and stick a piece of metal in his mouth, and make him run and jump over obstacles? Don't you think he would rather be in the pasture or roaming the plains with his buddies?

Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.
