Default Is this colour even possible...?

My mother spotted a weirdly coloured horse from the road and I'm trying to figure out if it's even possible.

She described it as a "beige and black paint". My first thought was a buckskin paint, but apparently it had black patches as well like a Black and White paint.

My other suggestion was a B&W or Buckskin and white paint that slept in something dirty...

There IS a small band of pintos who are beige where they should be white, but I doubt that's what's in this pasture

That would be my guess. I have a s..l..o..w..l..y greying Arab who gets black patches on him from rolling. If we lived where they have red clay, he would have red patches all over him.

Really? That's very cool... what/where are they?

I'm still thinking "very dirty horse" in this situation.

    That's VERY cool.

However it turned out I was right... Black and white paint (although a funky marked one) + mud puddle + early morning light...

Pretty sure that pony is a chimeric icelandic.

I am aware of this. The horse is described as a Paint Stallion on the webpage. They even use paint - horse in the URL. Are you saying the horse is not a paint?

If indeed it is a (registered) Paint, then obviously not!

OP said "paint" when referring to a spotted horse, hence my gentle reminder that not all spotted horses are paints (see JB's post

No harm intended, just an attempt at clarification...

He may well be a Paint by breeding - a BS Paint - Breeding Stock, meaning not enough white to qualify for "real" Paint papers but still of Paint breeding. However his "pattern" is a somatic mutation, totally unrelated to any pinto pattern

That website is indicating he is Chimeric. I wonder if he was tested.

Yes, he's a chimera, and yes, I'm fairly certain he's been tested.

Is your momma a horse person? My gal pal has horses and breeds cats. She knows to describe her cat colors in horse terms.

    We need a picture.

Do a drive by and take a picture.

Does anyone know what breed the "Paint" actually is? I am just curious as to what he really is. This horse http://klosterhof-medingen.pro-equi....dcat=42&lang=2 is the first one I had ever seen with the beige (?) color where the white usually is. Where would this stallion get his color from?

Dr. Doolittle no offense taken. I am not familiar with all of the colors in horses and want to gain more knowledge. Thanks.

If you're talking about this horse

    He's a Paint - that's his breed/breeding.

You're seeing a pretty typical presentation of chestnut, with lighter lower legs, and it just becomes more visible when they get into the darker liver colors. Lots and lots and lots of darker chestnuts have this.

I'm pretty darn sure that stallion would meet the white qualifications for Paint registration- ie not Breeding Stock. (some years ago I went thru an arduous process of getting a colt registered as he just barely met the requirements for size/location of white).
This stallion's socks go above knee/hock, and there is a white spot on belly that certainly looks large enough. He's quite cool looking!
