Default What to do during WEG visit?

Anyone visiting Lexington for the 2010 WEG? There's a bunch of fun stuff to do downtown and around Lexington, as well as at the Games.

The "fan fest" for horse lovers is the International Equestrian Festival in the Lexington Convention Center downtown. Open from 1-9pm everyday of the Games, and they have awesome shopping, speakers and entertainment.

The festival hosted by the city is called Spotlight Lexington and will have live music, and bring the athletes downtown for re-medaling.

You can also tour some of the famous thoroughbred horse farms

I also heard that the 2014 WEG folks from Normandy will have a booth at the WEG - I would love to taste some french cooking!

There's lots to do - what are your plans??
Wondering what to do during your 2010 WEG visit? I'm your local informational source who knows what's happening where and when!

    Default horse farm tours

Hmmm, I contacted one of the major horse farms to arrange for a tour and was told they don't do tours at that time of year.

Bummer! I have tour set-up with Claiborne and WinStar, I contacted them directly, I'm not going through a tour company. Send me a PM if you are interested in either and I'll give you the contact info of the people I spoke with.

I'm really excited about going to Lexington for WEG! I've never been and it should be a lot of fun.

Sad day. When did you call? I know a lot of the farms are starting to think about their "fan management" during the WEG, and maybe they are reconsidering.

Tours fans might find this interesting:

It's a video series called "Beyond the Stone Fences" and shows some "inside" scenery of famous Thoroughbred Farms. I believe it was done by the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Also some cool facts and pictures on Facebook:
