Tiffany, you don't need a fake tail for your local shows, whatever your trainer may say.

Also, the good ones cost upwards of $500. Are you prepared to spend that much? I'd rather see no tail at all than a bad fake tail, and Beautiful has a lovely natural tail.

I've seen the pictures/videos you've posted here and there, and your horse has a very nice, fairly long, natural tail. She is quite attractive.

I've been to Paint/QH (Breed) shows and seen horses with shorter natural tails than Beautiful's showing-and winning.

Put your money into more lessons! Riding lessons can only help you (and all of us, too) and it will be money way better spent!!

Should I even bother to suggest you discuss it with a professional braider?

    No
Times and traditions in the horse world shift and change, much of the old grandeur has been lost; But for one brief shining moment, there was a gigantic shocking pink d**** in the Hunterdon tack room.

You don't need one right now but i got mine from the show pen and love it. Like others said, invest the money in lessons before you go buy a tail. Your horse has a nice enough tail for the shows you are doing.

Agreed. and nothing looks worse than a fake tail that is too heavy, or too light or not put in properly.
