    If you're looking to track the temp of your horse's feet, save the $19.99 for 4 strips and go for a laser thermometer (I have the Raytek MiniTemp, $40 at Amazon). I've had mine for about 4 years and have yet to replace a battery.

    You can also use the Raytek on joints, splints, etc... although keep in mind these thermometers read the temperature of the surface (ie. if your horse has been standing out in the sun, you'll get a false reading as the hair will be warmer).

    thanks tarynls - after reading your post I bid on one of those on ebay last night, but the price got too high.
