I'm really hoping to see a monster emerge on saturday. I know it gets said every year, but this crop seems... lackluster.

I was all over Ice Box last week, but Uptowncharleybrown has really caught my eye. Interesting as I didn't think much of him earlier this year.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Ice Box as he was my Derby choice.

And a cracking race it was too the Manhanttan.... Winchester gets up to beat the fav Gio Ponti, who ran into lots of traffic.

Now, I could be wrong here, but isn't this what people tune into a racing broadcast to see.... actual exciting horseracing???
Or maybe I'm just weird and people are only really interested in bullcrap human interest stories with smaltzy music.
    What do you guys like?

I can't be the only fool who does.

Are ABC trying to kill horse racing or what?? There are three G1's and a couple of G2's on the undercard, why would you not show them? Show the fecking races for goddsakes.

Apparently it's more important for us to see the same clips they already showed on ESPN earlier today. I'm all for feel good stories and that stuff, but there's plenty of that on TV all the time.

But thank goodness they're showing us the path the horses will take to get to the paddock. I've been DYING to know that all day. Where's the roley-eyed smiley when you need it?

Here's a replay of the Manhattan, if you want to watch it before they jump for the Belmont.

Yeah NOT impressed that the Manhattan got lost in the switch from ESPN to ABC. Fail.

Thanks for sharing the youtube link.

ROFL It was so bad, they had to cut to commercial! Am I crazy, or don't they usually sing "New York, New York"?
