I am at a loss as to what to say. Elene's spirit, optimism and patience taught me so much, both personally and with my horses. Her attitude is inspiring on so many levels. I am forever changed in a good way and grateful for her willingness to share and teach us all. Sending prayers and jingles.

Oh Elene-I was just thinking of you this weekend and was pondering "bumping" the thread to see if anyone had an update...this is not the update I was hoping for. Your strength, perseverance and positive outlook has taught me much over the years. Thank you. I will be thinking of you and praying for you and your family.

It is strange... yesterday, all of a sudden, I thought of Elène and felt uneasy. I came and posted. ..

I am sending positive vibes East. From her last blog entry, Élène sounded at peace with the news.

I received the news yesterday from Kareen. We are long time cothers and Élène bought the two colts from her and and myself.
I feel so bad - as she was looking so much forward to the two boys :-(
I just hope she does not suffer so much from the physical pain.
She has been an inspiration for the last years and I felt honored that she purchased my colt and was looking forward to its arrival.

    Default Thank You Leena

Leena, these are your words from September 25, 2011:

"I really try to test myself and give HOPE to every one that thinks their equestrian life is over once disable or having to deal with terrible issues."

I want you to know that you succeeded by giving me HOPE, inspiration and the courage to ride (and jump) my green mare while undergoing chemo for aggressive breast cancer. I think of you every time I ride. You taught me that being physically weaker is not a weakness. It means being softer and lighter and a better listener. The more I ride this way, the more my mare goes this way. I will carry your teachings with me through my current challenges and forever after.

I send you and your family thoughts of love and peace and gratitude.

This says it all. My physical challenges are tiny compared to most, and yet I try not to ride from a position of strength, but from openness and softness, listening to my partner as we go. Thank you for showing us the way.

    I've long followed this thread.
I was hoping it would continue for years into the future.

My thought is that it's still time for healing jingles as well as prayers. My thoughts are with her and her family, but hope still lives in her room.

I have to admit, I am crying for you, Leena. I checked this thread occasionally, probably responded a few times, and somehow let the fact that you had a probably fatal disease slip my mind. And now... here we are. Many hugs. Many jingles. Thank you so much for the inspiration you've provided.

I'm so sorry to hear this news, I've been following your journey for the last year or so. Élène, you have been such an inspiration to so many of us, you give us courage and allow us to believe in hope.

When I was diagnosed with my own cancer this year my world crumbled and then I thought, what would Élène do? She would sit up tall, look forward, and ride on!

Thank you for teaching me to always ride on!

I wish all those words reach her ! If not via this Forum or Facebook, I am sure somehow she will know and I hope and jingling for a turn to the better - but it would be a miracle.

I have only been to this thread one other time, but today I read quite a bit of it. I just wanted to add that Leena is a real inspiration and I will look this back to this thread in the future when I need some perspective or courage. I hope Leena knows how awe inspiring she is to so many people. I am so sorry for the cruel turn of events.

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on that sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Obviously, Elène is well known in Quebec and admired by many. She inspired many there also. Some have suggested creating a prize/class in her honour at one of the local shows.

    Elene,

I know you are so incredibly humble, but I hope you know how much this thread, your words and your brave fight have meant to so many. You've touched a lot of people with your brave and humble heart. Your understanding of your horses is something I think about every time I throw a leg over.

You are an amazing woman and I'm proud to have had the chance to be a very small part of your inspiring life.
