    Thanks !

I am looking to have fun like every day and also test my latest comprehension, see how I can master those in the ring.

Forecast is for a cool, cloudy day. May have rain forecast but this is part of the game !

I'll make sure this time we don't forget the cam..

It was a great day ! I improved my scores even if I made again some errors..Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun, people were happy and I am getting better.
I got 57.45% on the first test and got got 58 % on the second but the riding error lowered it to 56..But this is a good increase from the last show (53% and 50%)

Ok riding too long..I get the idea more of supporting my grey mare Shannon with more of my upper body and seat. We were working together.

    Thanks Zuzu !

I was so happy to hold on, to keep myself still riding fairly on the second test.

Shannon has just got the idea of putting weight on her hinds maybe a week and half ago so, riding into this challenge my confidence, my timing of the aids.

When half of my body was totally burning, I was able to leave the pain outside of the ring and just focus on so much discovery..I had a real blast !

Thank you! I'm so glad you had a good show. You look really good, and Shannon is gorgeous.

I thought of you this weekend. I had a wonderful lesson on Saturday and then a fabulous ride on Sunday. My little horse and I were both feeling the joy -- when you do just enough to make it possible and the horse responds so well, it is just incredible.

And since my horse can be a bit of a pistol and tell me "not YOUR agenda, MY agenda!" that makes it even more special when he's right there with me.

No pics, though. Besides, I wouldn't look as good as you.

Elene, LOVELY pics! I'm jealous - it is 100 degreed F here and way too hot for rider and horse to have any joy together...at best, a bath from the hose for both is about all we can anjoy! So these photos of a cool, misty ride, well, you are lucky!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on having a great weekend!

I love the pictures and would also love to see a video of you two in action. It looks like Shannon has an amazing trot, and it would be cool to see it "live".

    Jenm,

This mare has an amazing walk and canter. She has always been very easy ont his. Trot is the gait we have improved.

My issues with her is since she is quite a natural forward horse and very sensitive..so it was for me to ride with my seat and legs and GET that steady seat. When I am not blocking my seat, her gait is fantastic..

So, sometimes I have it and sometimes I don't ! But I am positive to get there since we went through a major step about 2 weeks ago.

The reason why I still love to go to the show is the insight from the judge and also, almost more important, doing the test is showing me my strenght and weakness, where my nervousness can block my seat.

Practicing at home is one thing..Going to the show is challenging on an other way.
I am in the confidence aera right now. Keeping peace not only in my mind but also in my body and share this with my mare.

Since a couple of days, pain has surged to another level. My med does not cover anymore so I am waiting the doctor to increase med.

How this will affect my riding ?

I will need that confidence more and more, conviction and mental strenght.

    Will see.

I'll try to get some moment where her trot and me are connected.

4 years ago, when I put up that goal to become a better rider, I really did not have any horse to learn properly.

I had green horses only so improving, with chemos, and then without, while starting young horse was quite a challenge.

Then my horses sold too quickly. This mare is smaller so don't sell. This is my chance to improve with her and this is why I have sent her to a pro for a couple of months.

Now I have only 2 more to start; these are the last young horses from our breeding program. I am planning to mount them within about 2 weeks.

I know Shannon (the grey mare) is my dressage trainer right now and everything I find through my riding with her will benefit to the last ones.

    Elene,

I loved the pictures of you and Shannon from the show. You two look wonderful! I'm sorry to hear about the pain increasing. I hope you get some relief soon.

Please keep us updated how the babies are doing that you're starting. I love hearing about how your riding has improved and how the horses are progressing.

Beautiful pictures! You two look so happy together. Also sorry to hear about the pain increasing. My sister used a type of cream, gel type substance on her inner wrists which really helped. I'm not sure what it was-maybe a morphine type, but helped with her pain, but did not make her super drowsy. She was able to do normal things when using these.

    Hi everyone,

New med increased is working..But I feel more slow.

I made a slight change in my warm up with Shannon, the grey mare and this very slight adaptation will probably bring us where I want.

Before, when I was warming up, when she got unbalanced, I used to slow her down..(my mistake)
But yesterday, on the lunge line with elastic reins, I worked on transition trot-canter everytime she was speeding up in the trot.
That made her strecht more and more and finally working through her back, without speeding up.

Then I went on, and everything was working. I knew she was physically and mentally ready..But need to find herself the balance without leaning on me. With what I changed, she found out really quickly.

Also, her head-neck went up and I felt more power form her back ! I did not changed anything in my riding, just the preparation was different. She gave me gaits I knew she was capable off, my seat was soft, she was soft in her mouth..OMG !

She was so happy ! After returning to the pasture, she hugged me with her eyes. I finally gave her the proper tool for her to understand..

Some horses will find self-carriage easily, some needs a bit of help..I felt I had to try things different with her.

Again, during all this, I forgot about my pain.

I am coming with pics soon, this major step is too exciting not to share with you !

Thanks for the lovely update and for your phrase -- "hugged me with her eyes." Looking forward to pics.
