Thanks so much to ask for some update !
I did ride almost everyday for the last couple of weeks but now I am on rest and this is why:
The heat is great this week so I did not do much. In fact, I don't really feel that great, everything seems to be a mountain and if I don't take the interdose, my energy level suffers a lot.
Even if I enjoy every minute, I don't know how many weeks I'll be able to sustain what was so far a great spring and summer.
I had the chiro over for 2 of them so they are on rest for 3 or 4 days.
Also, my horses got trimed and they all feel ouchy now; this is the first time that happen for a long long time so I don't know what to think about this, especially since I have a show scheduled for this sunday...
Anyway I'll see if this hooves condition improve today and tomorrow.
The new saddle has made great things for my young mare so far and this is something I knew about and now experiencing is a great pleasure. Now we do great lenghtening of gaits since this saddle is not pinching her shoulders, also the head shaking is gone, also with bit grunging.
I started some movement of level 2, just for fun and the mare seems to enjoy learning something else.
For the moment, I just save all my energy, trying to rest as much as possible for the show on sunday, and hope my mare will be ok in her newly trimed hooves.

Glad to read an update Leena.
It's been so hot and dry that our horses' hooves have grown and chipped/cracked. The farrier has to trim them shorter to get rid of the cracks, and they are sore as well.
I hope you can rest well. That heat zaps everyone's energy for sure and we so need rain!!
Good luck at the show which I hope you can attend!

The heat can tire one out under the best of circumstances. I get so logy in the summers now.
Hope resting does you well & your horses' hooves also.

Hello everyone,
The show was really a tough experience with such a big heat and I had a hard time keeping my mare in front of my legs. There is a big swelly in my belly, growing at a constant pace.
Following the show, I had a huge pain crisis who left me in the bed for 3 days and I had to increase the med to survive to this.
I did not ride much for that matter but today I feel better so I probably will resume riding and take some sun.
I thought the past good time will stay for all summer but this is not the case unfortunately.
The crisis seems to peak higher and also more often. Before I had one crisis a month and now it's every 2 weeks.
The young horses, Drakkar and Dynamite does not seem to suffer not to be ridden on a regular basis and in fact improve every time I ride them. They are still enjoying growing in the pasture.
My grey mare Shannon is missing me more now.

Thinking of you Élène... the heat has been awful but in Qc you did get some rain, didn't you? I hope you can rest and still find the strength to enjoy your horses. Shows may ask too much of you.
I hope the painkillers work effectively for you. We always worry when we do not hear from you... thinking of you, know that!

The pain last for 2 good days and the third day, I was so tired that I stayed in bed. Since everything is back like I never had anything except the fatigue.
Thansk so much for reading my journey, your support and your thoughts !

Elene, I'm sorry to hear about the increase in pain. But I just have to say you have no idea how much you have inspired me and others here with this journey. In all honesty I think I might have been happy to give riding a pass until I read these wonderful posts. It brought back the joy in riding that I somehow had lost along the way. Last year I couldn't really get Abba back to working happy after jumper training. I felt so useless. The change in her this year is amazing. I'm so proud of myself for making that happen. But I always thought of you on those days when I needed a kick up the butt. You give me more than you know Elene.
Thank you,
Terri
