Default Best way to sell saddle

Have just ordered new saddle, and am interested in knowing where/how people have had success selling used saddles. IE - consign? (I'm in Florida) Internet ads? what sites?
Word of mouth... How long did it take? Any suggestions appreciated.
FYI, it would not be in the price limit for the classified forums here.

I have (had) two Countys to sell and listed them both on a number of internet sites - EquineHits, Tack Trader, Warmbloods-for-sale, etc. One sold in two days, the other is still for sale 6 weeks later. Both are less than 4 years old and in the $2K+ range. I think it really depends on the saddle. The one that sold was a pretty widely used seat and tree size, while the one that I still have is a much less common size and is going to take just the right person/horse combo to sell. I am hesitant to consign it because I have heard horror stories of how some places treat the consignment saddles, not to mention, they take a huge chunk of the money! EBay is also an option, but people there are looking for a steal of a deal and don't seem to want to pay anywhere near what the saddle is worth. Also, at the $2K+ range, the eBay and Paypal fees are killer! I am not in a hurry to sell it, so I will just wait for that right person to come along!

Usually when I sell something I want it sold. I put it on ebay, factor the least I will take for it, factor in fees, then list is for that with no reserve. I have never had something not sell - but like I said, I am really realistic with price.

I usually post it for a week on the local site first (bayequest.com), but if it doesn't sell, ebay and get it gone.

I think that for saddles on the less expensive end, ebay is great.

I recently posted on here about selling a "nicer" saddle and was nervous about consigning, didn't want to pay ebay fees or have it go too low on ebay.

I ended up putting it on TackTrader and it sold almost instantly for exactly what I wanted. The woman who bought it emailed me after she got it saying how thrilled she is with it. All in all, a perfect experience for buyer and seller, with no fees whatsoever (I had just done a text ad and said to email me for photos, which I had about 15 of to send!)

    Very happy with TackTrader

I sold a saddle on TackTrader a few months ago, it took 5 months, but did not come off my price much. I received at least 2 emails a week, usually people looking for a bargain or scammers.

I get a ton of tire kickers...I send out pics to a ton of people and hear nothing. Tack Trader has been not worth it for me

pws-1002, you're right about Tack Trader, lots of tire kickers, but my ad on their site did sell the saddle.

That's crazy to hear. Within a couple of days on TackTrader I had two people respond, and one of them bought it. Not really any tire kickers.

I just sold a saddle on tack trader. I had no responses for the longest time, then as soon as the weather warmed, about 6 responses.

I also had some responses on Ocala for Sale, and some on craigslist...

Be careful of scam artists. I got some responses that were too suspicious for words!
