Posting for a friend. Hi Ho Jackie is an 11 year old registered Appaloosa mare. She is solid chestnut with a blaze and 15.1 hands, but is very stocky.
Jackie has been used in lessons, for 4H, was Mini Stirrup champion and has shown in Green Hunter. Also has been used for leadline. She is also FANTASTIC on the lunge and has been used for lunge lessons. Crossties all day long and is safe around kids. She is a cute mover and a nice jumper. I have ridden her and she has 3 very comfortable gaits and is a pleasure to ride. She is not mareish and is a VERY easy keeper - no grain required, and if on lush pasture, a muzzle is a must.
Her owner had her for sale because she wants to do dressage and Jackie is more of a hunter type. However, Jackie came up a touch off, and an exam/x-ray revealed slight navicular changes. She has had her coffin bone injected and was put in 2 degree aluminum eggbar shoes. She is sound at the walk and canter, but is still a tick off at the trot.
Although the prognosis from the vet is good, Jackie's owner would feel best finding her a light duty (up-down kids, trail riding, no jumping) home.
She is not in any danger and will stay put until the right match is found. References are required, preferably one each from a farrier and vet, as she will most likely need maintenance. A copy of the xrays are available as well as a copy of the vet's report.
