Default wash or dry clean the washable pikuer coat?-UPDATE: washed it!

Does it wash well? I've had it for three years and always dry cleaned.

UPDATE: So I washed it, in a front loader and used woolite. Came out perfect and surprisingly, I don't have to iron it, it looks freshly dry cleaned. And, from the post below, I have dry cleaned it several times before, so in this instance the dry cleaning chemicals did not cause the coat to shrink in the wash.

Ironically, one of the dry cleaners had removed the "washable" tag in it in the past! I thought it was funny. they went through the effort to take it out with a seamripper and all thinking I wouldn't notice!

Not sure if it's the same for coats... but I remember hearing once years ago that wool coolers could be washed UNLESS they had been dry cleaned, in which case they would shrink due to the chemicals in the dry cleaning? Or something like that?? I could be confused, but it might be worth a google search.
