Scamper is going to live with SidesaddleRider next week! Thanks a bunch!
Scamper showed up here the end of last June, someone dumped him off at the edge of the cornfield. He wasn't feral, he was friendly, healthy and plump. According to the vet he was about 4 or 5 weeks old at that time, so he's coming up on a year old.
I had him vaccinated and neutered and he's free of diseases.
Great little hunter.
Here's the problem...he won't STAY at the barn. He likes to come visit at the house. Now for most folks, that isn't a big deal. But here, it could cost him his life.
A couple of the JRT's I've rescued are certified cat killers. When they are outside they are behind a 5 foot tall chain link fence with electric wire along the inside, but Scamper thinks nothing of scaling that fence to come sit on the back deck.
Fortunately, he's only done that when the dogs were inside the house.
What compounds the issue is that I also have several cat friendly dogs that are allowed to go to the barn with me, so he doesn't realize that some dogs are bad news.
So, right now, I'm keeping Scamper locked up in my quarantine cage. He's not happy. He wants out to hunt and play and annoy the other barn kitties.
Doesn't someone need a hard working barn cat that also happens to be very cute??
He's mostly white with a black tail and some black markings on his head.
He is more than welcome to come here. Our 2 barn cats love to come up to the house and visit and sun themselves on the porch. My dogs will chase them for fun only if they run first, but they certainly won't hurt them intentionally.
