Default Where to move? Currently in FL

I want to move away for the summer to a cooler climate, but I have no idea where to go. I moved to FL about 6 years ago to escape the cold, but now that I have been here for a while, I realize that the summers are just to hot.

I yearn for trail rides under trees on well manicured trails. Somewhere there is a good horsey community, good restaurants, and maybe an FEI dressage trainer or two to consult during the summer months.

Is North Carolina a good place to start? Where else could I go?

Southern Pines, NC, has lovely climate most of the year, except a few hot, humid weeks in the summer.

The ground is sandy and great to ride and train and there are all kinds of horse activities there.

NC is a great choice. Look up my friend Tami Batts at Fellowship Farm in Greensboro. She's a GP competitor/trainer who's also a fantastic instructor. She's also one of the nicest people ever to tread the planet.

Western suburbs of Minneapolis, MN. Great trails and a great horse community with plenty of excellent trainers.

My favorite place I've ever been in the summer is UP Michigan. It was GORGEOUS! Ohio also has pretty mild summers, especially last summer. They also have some good dressage trainers in the area I'm in.

The problem with the Michigans up is the bugs. We have property in the western part of the up and I have always wanted to take one of my horses up there to trail ride lake superior but the bugs are way to miserable for that.

I must have missed the bugs when I was up there It was only in the 60s when we were up so maybe they were all hiding but I came home with no mosquito bites vs. Hilton Head where I come home with about 200000
