Talking Riley~ The $50 Craigslist pony. UPDATE! RILEY has found her forever home! YAY!

    http://greensboro.craigslist.org/grd/1685300743.html

There is absolutely no excuse for a horse to look like this! Can anyone pay its $50 bail? If I were closer I would.

Update! Kudos to Jen-s and her "posse" for taking this little girl & giving her a much needed chance! Looking forward to lots of progress pics of our little diamond in the rough!

I can help pay, pay in full. if someone there will help it. Is it a mare or gelding, Have you called. I would even keep it if someone could quarentine it and allow it a bit of time to get strong and me to get the trailer down.

I forwarded this to my BO, who is a very experienced rehabber of horses. I'll be shocked senseless if we aren't on our way tomorrow to pick up the poor beastie. Although, her trailer is in the shop, so we'll have to borrow one, but I'm sure our trainer will loan us hers. Will update after I hear back from BO.

Looks like a mare from the picture, looking at the belly - no sheath.

Could be any age, she looks like a dark gray so possibly younger (<10).

Good Luck, I hope somebody gets her.

Keep1Belle & Jen-S~ bless you guys! I haven't called about him/her because I had just now seen the ad, and figured posting here first might be the best thing to do. I'm hoping these people still have him, and that he/she will find a good COTH home. No clue as to age/sex, etc...but what a sad looking soul.
    Please keep us posted!

We're in! Have emailed boarder to ask about borrowing her trailer. If that falls through, have lesson tomorrow AM at 9:30. Will ask trainer before that and maybe she can bring it up with her when she drives up to farm.

Will call phone number in morning (don't want to risk pissing them off with a late call tonight) and will update everyone when I know something concrete.

Thanks for spotting this. BO has been dying for a new rehab project, and this is gonna be one hell of a rehab.

Good for you! But someone needs to report the owner immediately. No excuse for this and they need to know it isn't acceptable.

I wonder what the horse looks like on the other side of it? This is likely a young horse, under 10 years old. Sickening. Thank goodness you are going to try and get this poor little skeleton. Maybe you will be coming home with two?

If you knew how lippy I am, you wouldn't even worry about this owner getting reported! Seriously, BO and I will do whatever it takes to get this horse off that property, and then we'll do whatever it takes to prevent someone from EVER doing this to another horse again. That's my hometown and I'll be DANGED if I'm gonna let someone get away with this!

Great minds think alike. Here's a tidbit from BO's reply to my email to her, "Did you see that there's another horse in the picture? Wonder what he/she looks like?"

I'm a COTH enabler to the core and BO needs VERY little nudging to jump in and rescue. We have a FAB relationship!

Woohoo! X'ing the fingers that all goes well~ I am SO glad I posted this. We COTH'ers are an awesome bunch when it comes down to horses and fellow horsemen in need.

This poor soul needs a name though. Anyone have suggestions?

HuntJumpSC--I like the way you think! If you name it, you must keep it!

Seriously though, part of me is going to be crushed if we don't get to save this horse, but part of me is going to be rejoicing if I don't have to see what's going on at that farm. It's been a hell of an emotional week and I was hoping for things to settle back down. But as my mother says, "if you wanna hear God laugh, tell him/her your plans."

Oh my goodness, sadly pitiful is indeed the word whilst there are other words that spring to mind as well with this being a family show and all that I won't use them.

lippy = very good so once you've got those two horses out of there let rip jen-s.
where am I, what day is it, am I still having a good time?

It is pitiful and I would be surprised if that horse is over 3 years old. It looks as if it is blowing its winter coat which makes it looks even worse. Whoever gets it might have a real gem on their hands.

I look forward to hearing the details tomorrow.
