Hilton Head and Savannah - tourist tips?
I'm getting out of New England for a week (yay!) Any good tips on Hilton Head and Savannah? I'll be traveling with two 17-year-old girls.

Make sure you stay downtown in Savannah, lots of reasonable hotels with everything in walking distance. Love Garibaldi Cafe downtown. SCAD's horse barn in Bluffton is supposed to be really nice, might see if you can stop by for a visit. Have fun.

I've been going to Savannah all my life, but I have to tell you, the time that my company booked a couple of the tour buses and we did the tourist thing was one of my favorite trips! I would advise you to take a tour (either guided or self-guided). Walk through the squares, go to the riverfront, and definitely stay downtown if you can
Y'all ain't right!

awwww...I love Savannah, my family's been there for 5 or 6 generations...great place to visit.
Let's see, Bonaventure Cemetery is wonderful, go in the afternoon/evening it's a wonderful walk. Down on River Street, just to the side of the big waterfront hotel that straddles the street is the Savannah Candy Company- get some pralines and eat one for me The fudge is fabulous too. There are some really cute boutique shops within a couple blocks of River Street.
If you're into cathedrals, St John's is one you have to check out. A few years ago they completed a multi-million dollar restoration. There is a really pretty park just across the street and some gorgeous historical homes. I got married there, so I'm a little biased.

I like Savannah too.
One of my favorite places is the Soho Cafe. Do a search, I can't remember where it is located.
They have delicious brunches.

Don't forget Beaufort
Yep, Savannah is one of my favorites. I love eating on the River front, the statues, and do a tour, but bring nose plugs if the wind is blowing from the paper mills
Beaufort is nice as well, I lived there for 8 years. Take the walking tour with Jon Sharp, he worked in Hollyweird for a long time and he's a character. The tour leaves from the water front. Beaufort also has great places to eat and stuff to do.
if you're in Bluffton, Wofford goes there a lot for clinics (you can get your horseie fix and audit)

One of my grandmother's oldest, best friends lives on Hilton Head and my grandparents used to have a timeshare down there so we would go every year and it is a GREAT place! The second you get off the plane it smells incredible. The ocean is warm and calm enough that my grandmother used to swim "laps" in it! If you like bikes, there are bike paths everywhere. I don't bike much because I am afraid to on roads with cars, but I always loved it there because the bikes had their own separate and even scenic route. Sometimes on your bike travels you will see alligators hanging out. If you like golf and/or tennis there are great places for that too. You should also go to Harbour Town and go up the lighthouse. Really I can't say enough good things about this island. I miss it so much. If you like chocolate, stop by my grandmother's friend's place the Chocolate Canopy, I PROMISE you won't be disappointed!

Savannah - Fort Pulaski is pretty neat, if you are interested in history. Also, there is a really great pizza joint out that way, hole in the wall kind of place.
Hilton Head - all about the beach. The whole "plantation" development thing they have going on there is kind of weird, but the beaches are great.
There are some really beautiful actual old plantation sites/homes to see out in the Charleston/Hilton Head area if you are close enough, Drayton Hall is a good one.
Fear is the rocket sauce.
