Default Question re GOV C of P papers

I have a young gelding who was not inspected as a foal or yearling. Is it possible to get C of P on a gelding who is coming three?

Sire is a GOV imported stallion and dam is an imported OSB Trakehner mare.

    TIA

Best bet is to call the office. Has the dam already been entered into one of the Oldenburg mare books?

If I remember correctly, Oldenburg requires horses to be inspected to get C of Ps. For them it's basically saying, yes this horse is out of who owner says he is, but didn't make the cut. However for Hanoverian C of Ps it's just like it states, a certificate of pedigree!

The OSB mare has Trakehner Verband and ATA papers. She has not been inspected by GOV.

She is no longer breeding sound so adding another inspection is not high on my list.

    Her DNA is on file,

I can get ATA Register D papers. Looking at all options.

I would think there would not be much difference between Trakehner "D" papers and Oldenburg CoP, esp. for a gelding. You might want to verify if the horse would be eligible for registry awards, but other than that, I would go with the more affordable option.

    Register D (appendix) papers are either $300 or $400 for a three-year-old.

C of P with the ATA is $100, any age.

I haven't heard back from GOV yet.

I need to verify that C of P horses are eligible for year-end awards.
