Hi all, I am at the library again and am checking in.

Yak arrived no worse for the wear and has been a very good boy. I am stabled next to Jumphigh and it is nice to be next to someone I know and respect. I am also able to borrow the use of her paddock at times, which is something I was apprehensive of finding when I got here.

The first two days out riding, we experienced "Bubble Brain", caused by the spastic horses that were turned out that we had to walk right by to go out to the schooling areas - by the time we got to the schooling rings, his mind was in a big open field and not on work. He never did anything bad, but he was coiled like a spring for a good 15 minutes and I could feel him wanting to erupt. Imagine a little boy holding back a scream on the playground. http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/lol.gif Once his brain came back home, he had exerted so much mental energy, he was tired http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...n_rolleyes.gif.

Day 3 and 4 were much better, but he is not used to sand footing like this and his "GO" button is stuck on "SLOW". Not a bad thing, but I have decided to do the Baby Greens this week instead of the Pre Greens to build his confidence and get his gears lubed. It didn't help that the last three weeks at home were too cold to do much of anything, and I believe he needs a week of 2'6" in the ring before he makes his 3' debut.

Tomorrow is Ticketed warmup and we show Wednesday and Thursday. That's all for now.
I gotta do-over and am doin it my way!!!

Goodluck this week Silly Mommy! I wish I could come up to watch, but alas I am stuck in school - oh how real life gets in the way of fun http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...n_rolleyes.gif How is the footing up there?

I know that coiled spring feeling all too well http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/lol.gif I have had several in the past that would do that at their first few big shows or when they were fresh. The turnout is usually a huge help for those horses. Of course now that I have one that has gotten to be nice, quiet, and solid I am not riding him and he is being sold http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/lol.gif

My boy is shipping up today. Hopefully the weather will hold out and not be too bad for the shows.

Hey! Glad you made it down here O.K! Did you come with students too? If you need a helping hand at the ring or anything feel free to let me know. Oh, and I just had a really good equine dentist out in case you do end up needing one. Take care, Kathy. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif

    Hi Silly Mommy,

Rivano will be down there Wednesday and Thursday. I don't know if the trainer finally decided on Baby Green or Low Hunter. I'm thinking it was the latter one... Hope I get to meet you!!!

So what is Yak showing in? Baby greens? Pregreens? Tin, he looks so adorable in those pics. Are you down there, too?

Dtr's trainer is down in Ocala and I am thoroughly jealous. http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...s/winkgrin.gif Dang, I might just have to get a flight and go down for a weekend.

Hi... I am the guy that you love to tell to move back please, you shouldn't be standing there... don't photograph this round...we are not buying.. thank you.

Or I am the guy that... it was "HIS" fault that my horse didn't jump the fence over there on the other side of the ring by the warmup crowd. My horse saw a reflection off his lens and I want him removed from the grounds...

Or I am the guy that...My horse doesn't like the color of your shirt sir, could you go home and change it?

    LOL

    Have a good show.

I'm not a hunter person, but want to meet all my fellow COTHers. May try to wander over and meet some of your guys Thursday. Where and when???

Your Yak looks wonderful, SM. Looks like he took the trip in stride. Oakleigh, hope I finally get to see Rivano in the flesh.

Can we name a palm tree to meet under? http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...s/winkgrin.gif

Why didn't you get a picture of MY horse - you got EVERYBODY ELSE in the class ... http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/lol.gif http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/lol.gif The photographers were usually the last of my problems. When we were showing at Golden Hills the tractors with drags up, water trucks, kids driving like maniacs on dirt bikes and golf carts, etc. at the end of the rings were of much greater concern than any flashily dressed photographer with a scary monster camera http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/lol.gif

    Mary Lou...

The show is nearly entirely in the infield of the track, with the exception of the Grand Prix ring which is on higher land and at the north end of the facility (which is where you enter) overlooking the vast sea of horses and rings...very picturesque. A city of horses. Almost a Frederico Felini movie of sorts.

Hunter world is at the very south end HUNTER 1 and 2 are side by side with a nice VIP tent separating the rings on a slight mound of higher ground.

Most likely Rivano's classes will occur there. A bit north of that and on the east side of the road are two hunter rings, side by side, Huter 3 and 4 which generally host pony classes, and the nice ring on the west side of the road which is on a lower plateau generally hosts the very green and schooling classes.(Hunter 5)
Also on Saturdays, there is a small ring beside the track called the Annex where the small and medium ponies, and also young riders on horses show. Its directly south of vendor village at the far end as you walk in past the stabling and offices. You should take the tour its a beautiful show grounds. All around paddocks and permanent barns. and then the sea of trailers, and sea of campers.

About mid infield directly across from vendor village and beyond the large warmup ring is Jumper 1 and 2. This is generally where the lower level jumpers go, levels 2-3,pony jumpers, AA and A/O Jumper divisions, and the jumper medal classes run in Jumper 2 later in the week.

There is one other jumper ring at the north end of the infield where the levels 4-6, and some of the 5-7 yr old jumpers and more.

Its a circus, a zillion divisions, and many entries. Classes may be lighter earlier in the week but can be endless near the weekend. Often classes can be held up by traffic problems in other rings as many riders cannot ride unless their trainer is present who may be entered in several other rings. Somehow the puzzle manages to fit together and by the end of the day, all gets done.

You will be seeing some nice horses.

I am hoping to come to Ocala to watch some of our home breds show, but as scheduling is getting tight it's beginning to look as if it is not going to be possible. They belong to other people now ,but I continue to feel as if they are part of our family. Please watch for them if you are able and let me know how they do.
Wiebe B ( Rebel IZ X Montana ) will be in the 6 year old jumpers. He is owned by Chris Sallee. All Star B ( Branco X Montana ) will be in the 5 year old jumpers . He is owned by Stefanie Collier. Blue Bayou B ( Simsalabim X Song Sung Blue B ) might be in the initial Hunter classes or just moseying around as this is his first real show. Hard to miss , he is a 17H black 4 year old stallion prospect that is going up for approval this year.He is owned by Barbara Hansen . They are all stabled with Stefanie Collier ( Collier's Lane )If anyone sees these horses please let me know . I will be excited to see how they do.
