So I have been told on numerious accounts that fish oil is great for horses. I know nothing about it, but from what I have read it seems beneficial. Has anyone had good results with it? Also where do you get it?
I go to Costco now and buy my horses Vitamin E pills from there and saw they have fish oil pills....how much does a horse need?
I use the fish oil capsules from GNC. I give my horse four capsules per day. He eats them right in his feed. He gets them for his atrial fibrillation. There was a veterinary study done that showed the hearts of horses on fish oil don't have to work as hard as a horse not on fish oil.
Also, Smartpak has two supplements with some fish oil, smartshine and smart omega 3.
Cod Liver oil is often fed to horses......however some horses abject to the odd odor it can have. Linseed oil (which is realy Flax seed oil for Flax seed comes from the Linseed plant) has a great deal of your omegas 3s and 6s. I havent done any comparisons between the two lately but you can look into it.
I have begun feeding Wellpride fish oil to my VERY picky eater. It smells like fishy baby aspirin, I thought he would never eat it, but he likes it. It is much to soon to see results though, they say it takes about 3 months...
