I showed back in the 70's and 80's and thought the rule book said no blinkers or hood permited. Looking at the photos from Arizona and there is a picture of a jumper wearing full cups, What's the scoop?
There is no rule against using hoods with eye cups, ear covers, shadow rolls, and almost any type of bit or hackamore, in the jumpers. As long as it does not cross into abusive, causing torn or bleeding skin. There are rules for martingales, sidereins ect, but as far as bits & bridles, almost anything goes in the jumpers.
I have seen amazing amounts of metal in a horses mouth. but most of the top jumpers go in very simple or gag type bits, with running martingales. Sometimes less is better. Talk about days gone by, do you recall the pom-poms braided into the tails? We were pretty silly back then. Like the last time they held the "Costume Jumper" class at the WIHS, and we all got to see a little too much that night.
