Default One more "fashion" question: Stock Ties

What level is it appropriate to wear a stock tie? I will hopefully be selling my mare this week and that will leave me with one competition horse, who is solely an eventer. No more hunter schooling shows for me just to get my horse some miles! I am selling my hunter attire (colored show shirts) and buying one WHITE show shirt, but I was wondering, should I just go ahead and buy a stock tie too?! It's not like they are super expensive...
    Thanks for the input!

At whatever level you wish to wear one. A ratcatcher is also appropriate for lower level dressage with a hunt coat. Dressage coat--probably a little more proper to wear a stock.

Disclaimer: I am wearing neither this year and am starting my own fashion trend. Do not listen to me.

Hehe What is your fashion trend?!

Oh, and my coat is a hunt coat, not a dressage coat

I have worn a stock tie since beginner novice. Mostly because I lost the choker to my white hunter shirt and decided I might aw well buy a stock tie since that was more in line with my current pursuits. I wear it with a hunt coat.

I'm all about a well tied stock tie. Go for it!

I bought the gold one, not the one I originally posted. And hell yes I'm wearing it! I put my money where my mouth is.

DW--How many shows have you worn it to? Any feedback? I think gold sounds quite smashing!

OP--Stock ties are appropriate at any level. At the lower levels ratcatchers and chokers are fine too. One of my students went with the boyish look and wore a regular shirt and tie in dressage, which I thought looked "eh" but she formerly rode with a BNT who is a fashion maven so what the heck....

I'm thinking of getting one of those swanky stock ties. When I feel brave.

No shows up here yet--we're lucky to ride outside before April.

Usually I get a lot of pitying looks after dressage, so if that keeps happening I won't feel too bad--it's not the neckwear. But I will take pictures of the cute spotted pony with his stylin' black/gold dressage pad and my complementary paisley neckwear.

IEA is on my list for the summer. Won't have qualified for a T3D by then, but we're planning on coming down for the HT. Also planning on May-Daze and South Farm, but will have to skip Greater Dayton this year.

I'm sure we'll cross paths somewhere--be sure to introduce yourself!

Of course I will introduce myself! I am quite the talker... I am super stoked about the training 3 day! That is a huge goal of mine, but obviously wont be making it this year.. or next probably! But we shall see! I am excited to see it first though!

Oh I can't wait to meet fellow COTHers!
