Duffy - just curious if your vet mentioned healing time if it's a deep bone bruise. I'm curious because I am dealing iwth a suspected deep bone bruise right now and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Will probably go in for a bone scan soon. They told me if she wasn't better in 4-6 weeks to come back for more x-rays and a bone scan.

I feel for you! Hope Eloquent gets better soon!

So, jingles for Wonser (any update?) and Eloquent! And Fancy Flair!

    If it's a bone contusion/bruise, we're talking 8-12 weeks. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_frown.gif

The positive side is that I was planning on giving him at least a couple of months of "down time" anyway before getting him into "hunter" training. I just hate that he's hurting and have to admit that the extra care complicates my life these days. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_wink.gif

Thanks - that was kind of what I was thinking - almost 3 months. *sigh*

I do know about the extra care and its complications. At least my mare is in my backyard.

Good luck and we will hope it's NOT a bone bruise and that he is sound again soon!

Duffy, I'm so sorry to hear about Eloquent. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_frown.gif I suppose we can commiserate on our poor pony's knees. http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...s/sadsmile.gif

I haven't been wrapping Abe's knee. I wonder if I should have been. http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...ilies/uhoh.gif I will definitely ask my vet when she comes out today.

Best of luck for a speedy recovery. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif

everybody wonser went to surgery this morning. they found a very large piece of leadrope and bailing twine lodged in his small colon. it looks to have been there a least a year maybe more. this would have happened to him where ever he would have gone.the mass was a big as both of my hands together, and it was calicfied(sp?). thanks you all for your prayers and jingles. i have no idea hoew to pay for this, but i guess i need to go and look for another job. i was not going to let him die, he is such a cool horse and has been so wonderful about this whole ordeal. never got mean or nasty the whole time he was in so much pain. please keep him in your prayers that he comes out of this ok.he is in the recovery stall now. thanks again http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...s/sadsmile.gif

    maxx- Hoping he feels better..

Sophab- I know the trainer and horse very well, the trainer's groom is currently taking care of my horses. We've been in teh same shedrow all year. I was on the phone with the trainer all day Monday pushing him to get it taken care of for your friend.

Duffy- Is there anything you need me to do?

Jingling for Wonser! I've followed these exracers sagas from the beginning and now want one of my own. I'll have to settle for caring for Horseless in Georgia's for a couple of days till she gets her barn finished. They should be here this afternoon!

Oooh. Poor Maxx and Poor Wonser. I'm so sad to hear about the injuries/surgeries on these babies and so happy to hear they are so loved by their new owners.

To echo another thread...I really wish we had a CANTER affiliate in CA!

    OMG is right! Poor thing!!!

Doublete, thanks for your call last evening. I got in too late to return it and hadn't heard from the vet at that point anyway. No, you don't need to do anything as yet. If he's not a LOT better in the very near future, we'll know that it wasn't just superficial.

And, as I said in my previous post, I was planning on giving him some R&R/re-group time anyway. If he takes a turn for the worse, I'll let you know and maybe it will call for a powwow of sorts. I love him! It may just be that he'll end up more of a rescue.

Duffy- Ok, just checking. Glad to hear he's nudged his way into your heart anyways. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_wink.gif *If* that happens we'll figure something out, but here's hoping all is well.

Max- Poor guy.. It's amazing what these horses do for people (him running with that in his poor tummy).

Well, Quentin's leg may still be sore, buy BOY is he feeling better! I brought him out for some grass and he was quite the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed fella when walking out of the barn. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif But, as soon as we hit the grass, he was all business - eating like there was no tomorrow, other than shaking his head every now and then from a fly. He didn't mind Pepper romping around close by either. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif

I swear he even is starting to get a little bloom to his coat. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif

I am so sorry to hear of the troubles that have befallen several of these beauties. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_frown.gif My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved. It is heartwarming to know that these horses have gone to such wonderful homes where they are getting the best love and care they can get. http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/yes.gif
DKL could you email me. I had a problem with my email and lost all my contacts. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...n_confused.gif

    Doublete, thank you.
Jill is home and happy. You know she shares a common grandsire with Snickers and it is almost uncanny how alike they look. We'll definitely keep everyone updated over the winter and whip out the "aren't they fat shiny and gorgeous" pictures in the spring.
Still jingling for everyone with troubles.
You know, I have a ton of extra stuff laying around. Maybe we could all do a little fall tack room cleaning and set up an "auction" to help these wonderful people and their new babies out?

Welll.....Finally my Canter Cuties Penalty Declined and Count Quillo are here!!! They had quite a long ride to Georgia as the drivers truck was having major mechanical problems. But they are saft and sound in their stalls muching hay when I left to come to work. First thing both of them did was roll in the nice big stalls full of shavings!! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif

I tried to take some pics - but it really does help to have the card in the digital camera! http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/yes.gif I will take some pictures tomorrow and get them posted.

Now I get to change my COTH name and come up with some new names for my guys!!!
