Default Canine teeth showing up in an older mare?

My 9 year old Hanoverian mare has what appears to be a canine tooth coming in. Not sure how common this is as I have never had this happen before. Just had her teeth done 6 months ago and there was no sign of it then.

Anyone have this happen in a older mare before?

    Thanks!

Although it's uncommon plenty of mares will develop small, immature canines teeth. Oldtimers say that a mare with canines is a tough mare to get and keep in foal. It's nothing to worry about from a comfort or function point of view.

A friend of mine had her mare's teeth done by an equine dentist (not a vet one) and he said the mare had her teeth too (she's in her teens). My friend had the teeth pulled about 12 years ago. Do they grow back as the dentist said?

That would be wolf teeth, not canines. Some mares have canines also known as tusks. Not a problem unless they get sharp and need to be filed down.
