very carefully and with a lot of patience, support, and saving money. Luckily for me Im in a boarding situation with a friend, so I dont have to pay board. But I do have a special savings account set aside for hay, grain, shoes, vet visits etc...
Before I moved my girl out there, I worked off my board. Mucking stalls and excercising horses. It is possible, you just have to put alot of forethought into it and make sure that like your children, if something happens, you have a way to fix it.
As for the kids, I gave my son a stick and a shovel, he was entertained for hours. Between the dirt, trees, dogs and cats, he was always happy.
Mommy needs horsey time. My son has known this all his life. It makes mommy happy therefore, life is easier!!
