Trail Gelding in SC!
Fun trail gelding available in SC!
I have a Flaxen Chestnut easy keeping 9 yo 15hh gelding that is looking for a new home away from Fox hunting!
Right now, he lives out 24/7! He is a super easy keeper. He is barefoot, sound, and easy to work with and keep. He is a fun horse to ride on trail. He likes to go and enjoys his job. He rides in any saddle that fits him. He isn't particular! He will ride in a group, single, at the front, middle or back. He does like to walk out....he has a huge stride for a horse his side. He will even do a flat/running walk if conditions are right.
He is current on everything!
Any questions, please ask. References will be checked.

I am looking for a trail horse and would provide excellent care. I am puzzled by what you mean he needs to get "away from foxhunting"?

We live in the middle of fox hunt territory. During times of hunts, the hounds and horses come either very close to our property or through the woods and trails on our property. From the first cast until the last hound/horse is done, he is running the entire time. When it is warm out, he gets sweated and hot. When it is cool out, he gets sweated and chilled.
I had hoped he would settle as the years passed. He has not. He is worse when he is confined. I have boarded him temporarily with the hounds thinking it was the issue....he settled and was fine.
It only seems to be when the hunt is going that he wants to RUN! It is instinct for him to go with the herd. It is instinct for him to run when hounds are running.
I am thinking a home away from foxhunting would be best for him. It makes me sad to do so as he is an excellent trail horse, but his sanity and safety are most important to me. I am also concerned for the other horses as he riles the herd up.
I hope this clears things up.

Thank you very much! He will be put back into quasi-work as the weather improves.....if my mare lets me! She has a jealous streak a mile wide!

Well, everyone, I think we have a winner! It appears that Phoenix is going to TN. Fingers crossed that the details iron out and the stars and schedules align!
Thank you everyone for your interest!
