Haven't read your post, but it's easily both for me at times. ;-)
I tolerate all kinds of animal idiosyncrasies.
    I've found that I don't tolerate people idiosyncrasies as well. - Casey09

My thoughts begin with the notion that I am glad I have slowed down my posting rate because I really don't want to appear in someone's article without being asked first.

They then travel to being glad that I deliberately didn't post an answer to the $12,00 pony thread because I thought that someone who dropped that much money on a pony could figure out that answer for themselves. Too bad the other posters weren't informed it was all a joke.

Then my thoughts travel to this: I write for a competing publication. We allow people to read their own quotes before publishing them in print or online. To do otherwise, IMO, is pretty rude. JMHO.

When I moved to Kentucky I recieved lots of questions from friends in my industry. "You are? Why would you move there? Aren't most of the people really poor?" " No", I replied, "they just all have horses".

Well, it seems to be the writer who posted the link. I took a look and disagree with you about rudeness. A forum is a public place and if you say something in a public place, you run the risk that someone will quote you. News articles are more frequently quoting from forums when conveying online chatter on whatever subject.

Would I use that as a source for actual information? No. As an example of Web buzz, maybe.
