Stony Ridge Farm in Manassas, VA is offering the second in a series of clinics: Sports Psychology for Equestrians: Riding with Confidence. The clinic is open to all disciplines.

Just in time for the 2010 competition season; this clinic will focus on riding anxieties, what triggers them, how to stop them from occuring & what to do when they do occur. There are two parts; participants can one or both. The first part of the clinic is a 3 hour group seminar which starts at 8:30. Lunch follows and is included.

The second part consists of a mounted group session, with a maximum of 3 riders per section (each session being 1&1/2 hours). Session 1 is directed at riders with generalized anxiety or fearfulness about riding. Session 2 is for riders who have competition anxieties; and Session 3 is for those situational anxieties ("I get scared when...")

Clinic fees are $45 for the morning session; $150 for the mounted sessions or for both, $180.

The clinician is Dr. Paul Haefner, a clinical psychologist based in Leesburg, VA. Dr. Haefner, a lifelong horseman, specializes in sports psychology for riders, as well as having a traditional practice. For more information about Dr. Haefner check out his website, www.ridingfar.com .
