    Default New Scam?

So I posted an ad on craigslist about wanting to lease a farm and here is an email I got this morning.

I'm not going to do it, it just screams scam, but I haven't seen it before -

    "Hello there,

I have what you said you were looking for in your housing wanted ad. And because a would-be tenant backed out just recently, we are flexible on the price.

Because I had to deal with some fraud a while back, before we can go further I just need to check if you're legitimate. Please go here and get a free credit report: verifymyself(dot)com

Please let me know when you're done and can send the report link.

    Talk to you later"

    Thoughts?

A quick google search verifies that yes, it's a scam.
    Well isn't this dandy?

sounds sketch since they ask for the report, with out really mentioning anything about the property.

The latest thing on Craigslist is to rent a house, apartment or farm that is not theirs to rent.
It happened in Sacramento. A young man rented a place to a young couple and when they started to move in it they were met by the owner. Their money is gone and they have no apartment. They went through all the hoops and gave all their information along with a credit report.
    This sounds fishy to me.
Go to the Hall of Records and see who the property really belongs to.
Contact them and see if the person contacting you is legitimate.
These con artists are getting more and more creative these days.
Beware of these scams and cons.

This is more an 'identity theft' thing. LOTS of information on you in those on-line credit reports. If they were renting fake property, they'd just ask for payment, not be concerned with your payment history for getting regular future payments on a nonexistent property.
