Thumbs up Best horse book I have read in YEARS

And I don't know how I missed it when it was first released. Priscilla Endicott's "Taking Up the Reins," a year in Germany with a Dressage Master. Seriously, no matter if you are a DQ or a trail rider, Hunter Princess or reiner, you will not be able to put it down. I got it on Ebay; you can probably find it used on Amazon, too. Heading to the barn now and taking it with me in case I can sneak a chapter or two while Oliver has lunch.
    EDDIE WOULD GO

I read it a year or two ago and really enjoyed it. I loved reading about the struggles the author went through, especially the mental ones.

I agree, it was a very enjoyable read! I love reading about real people doing hard things.

There's one written by Pippa Funnel, a major Eventer who has had issues with fear. That was amazing, too.

I read this years ago. It was very good. I highly recommend it.

    Is it a memoir?
It about a woman in her fifties who spends a year in Germany training with a dressage master. It was an interesting read.

Honestly? I thought it was OK, but wish it had been more about the horses and riding and training.

Snbess -- What is the name of Pippa Funnel's book?
...somewhere between the talent and the potato....

I am with you. I read it when it first came out and enjoyed the first half but found that the second half dragged.

Anselcat, amusingly enough, it's Pippa Funnel: the autobiography. 2004

    Default Any other recommendations?

Does anyone have other suggestions for really good biographies or memoirs of top riders? I have heard of a few, but would like to read others.
