I don't even know where to begin. Yesterday while at work preparing for Huricane Isabel I got a call from the social worker who has been working with us as far as our adoption process goes. She called and said there is an infant baby girl in the hospital that was just born on Thursday and her mother abandoned her. Just up and left 2 hours after the delivery. The social worker wanted to know if my husband and I wanted to take her and *hopefully* adopt her....and she needed an answer ASAP! After having to change my underwear and a long conversation with my husband, WE ARE GOING TO DO IT!!!!

We are picking the baby up from the hospital on Monday. We have chosen to name her Reese Isabel. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif

Miracles really do happen!! At least I have the weekend to prepare my home and my mind for this upcoming "huricane" coming into our lives.

It's funny. Last night my husband and I were laying in bed excitedly talking about the baby and all the preperations that need to be made and I said, "You realize, of course, that in about 5 years we're going to have to buy a pony!"

I just had to share with everyone. We are so excited we can hardly stand it. Have I lost my mind?? New horses I can handle, but a BABY??? Am I nuts? I'm fortunate though, my family is 100% behind this and are just as thrilled as we are. Jingles in hopes that everything goes smoothly and there are no kinks in all the legalities.

OMG, I am so excited for you. How wonderful. What a miracle. I just burst into tears when I read that. I'm so accustomed (as is my office) to bursting into tears with the sad commentaries on the board these days.

    So happy for you. http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...s/sadsmile.gif

As an adoptive parent (mine are now teens) I know firsthand how amazingly happy you are now!! An answer to your prayers! My most sincere congratulations and best wishes to you and your new baby!!!!!

I am jingling and praying that all goes well with you and there are no unexpected "kinks."

Oh, and don't worry - you will handle it. Your life will be completely changed, http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif but you will handle it and never look back!
