I'm so, so incredibly sorry, Coreene, but Im happy you were with him, and I support your decision 100%.
Willem, you are such an amazing horse, you will be missed. Eat all the ice cream you want (have some ben and jerrys for me) and play all day long.
Coreene, again, my condolences, (((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) and loff.

Coreene, I am so sorry for your loss. http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/cry.gif http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...ilies/sigh.gif

I am very proud of you for making a very brave and selfless decision. All horses should be so lucky to have owners such as you who put the horse's well-being first, and their personal desires and goals second.

Willem is now in the land of Free high-speed internet connections, and will be sharing his wisdom with a whole new group of horses and people alike.

He can now live in a lush field, with lots of pretty fillies and apple trees and he can eat goodies to his heart's (stomach's?) content. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif

    Coreene,

So very sorry for your loss, but very happy to hear that you had 11 years with your beloved Willem. He and you bring so much joy to the BB.

{{{{{hugs to you}}}}}} and thoughts that Willem will be over Virginia tonight http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...s/icon_eek.gif http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...s/icon_eek.gif http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...s/icon_eek.gif. Yes I can see our BB friends on the other side having a very good time welcoming Willem to their stable!

I am so very sorry for your loss. There are no words that can ever heal the wound of a lost loved one, but remember that everyone here "loffs" and supports you....*big hugs* from your online family.

Oh Coreene, tears came to my eyes the moment I saw the thread title as I knew what it meant. I had been so very optimistic about his recovery, but I guess it wasn't to be.

Though it had to be ever so difficult to make that final decision, he told you very clearly that it was time. Remember all the good times and even the bad ones as they make up the story of your lives together.

    RIP, Willem.

    With sadness, Maggi

Coreene, is it ok if I ask a favor of Willem?
Last night, while at the regional 4-H show, my friend and club member (im pres of my club), Brianna, got a call from home that her other horse, her new, young TB gelding "derby" was colicing very badly. Her mother went home, and he was euthanized around 3:30 this morning. His mom was incredibly upset as she didnt get to say goodbye. We were a huge crying mess and no one felt much like showing anymore. So, if Willem could PLEASE tell him we miss him and love him and hope he is no longer in pain.

Willem, sorry to bug you while you are eating ice cream up there...but...
Could you PLEASE tell Derby that Brianna loves him very much, as does everyone from the Westfield Grazers. Tell him we will miss him VERY VERY VERY much, and that his mom is SO sorry and upset that she was not there with him. She would like to tell him goodbye and that she will miss him. And your brother Wings sends his love as well. Thanks Willem, take good care of Derby, he is just a baby!

I REALLY REALLY hope you are doing alright coreene, and Im so so sorry. ((((((((((HUGS)))))))) again!

BTW ... amongst the flowers in his stall was a big bottle of Guinness from Rufus. I thought it highly fitting.

ahh...gosh darn it, Coreene. Only this afternoon June's Mom and I were talking about you and "himself". And reading the thread for any news.

Came home this evening and promptly sprained the ankle doing chores. After ice, went out to the six idjits with bread and we all talked about Wilheim, between munches and crunches, and YOU. Came inside and logged on and found that I had been away when you posted.

    I won't miss your horse.

What I will desperately grieve for is the space he left in the heart of someone I know only from this board. But that person has spoken with eloquence and empathy to many individuals. That person who loved William has provided so much wisdom, love, arms, understanding and did I mention love...to so many here on COTH. I don't mourn William. I only mourn that I am in PA so I can't rush over to Coreene's and stay there, offering only a feeble measure of what Coreene has given all of us.

But I am with you in spirit, Coreene. I've walked your road. You, as others have already masterfully stated, have been an example in dignity, humour, and grace without ever wanting the job.

Tears are over, for now. We love you. We are here. Ever, we are here. You have always been here for <us>. Warm arms embrace you into the night. much love, June

Coreene, I just got back after going to put the horses out. It's a beautiful clear night and we saw some shooting stars. I think Willem was making a splashy entrance up above.

We still need a smiling through tears graemlin.

My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.

    Oh no... http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/cry.gif

I'm so sorry - geez. I never know what to say - just so very, very sorry this has happened. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_frown.gif

He will be missed by so many people here, even though many of us only knew him through "his" posts. He was a remarkable gentleman, and I hope he is as happy on the other side as he was here. You gave him a wonderful life.
