What do ya'll think of these two CANTER cuties?

Rusty Gun 3 yr old gelding, 16.1hh

    Babe's Match 4 yr old gelding, 16.2hh

Not in the market myself, but I do like checking the CANTER listings.

I am not good with conformation, but, yikes, look at the withers on the second guy! I am sure that with work they would become less prominent; just imagine riding him bareback http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...s/winkgrin.gif. Other than that, I think he is quite a cutie.

Rusty Gun is making the rounds... he was on Canter Ilinois for a while (Pic) and someone a while ago saw him before a race and loved his movement (there is a trot pic of him out there somewhere). I love this guy, a real cutie.

Here is the link to the trot picture... Trot Picture

And the info on him from the IL site is on their sold page. I copied it here though.

    OMGiH!! OMGiH!!

I was already thinking to myself, "No, Beezer, Rusty Gun does NOT want to move to Southern California and be your next pet even though he does look very Secretariat-ish and you know how much you loved him" when, clicking on that pedigree link Konstantin92 (thanks http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...n_rolleyes.gif ), what should Beezer see but not only is Rusty Gun indeed a distant Secretariat relative on the top side ... but ... OMGiH! ... he is distantly related on the bottom side to the dear, most beloved Original Beezer!! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...s/icon_eek.gif

I have not seen those wonderful old names in bloodlines for years. And trust me, I have looked.

I wonder how much it would cost to ship him from Michigan to California....

Aw Beezer I'm sorry! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...icon_smile.gif He does have some pretty nice bloodlines there, and seems to be well conformed as well. Last time he disapeared off of CANTER I hoped he went to a non-race home, but I guess he didn't. I'm hoping that he has the chance now, because he just has that look in his eye (IMO).

Don't know how much it would be from Michigan to California though. Hmmmmm...

Beezer, I really hate (http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c...on_biggrin.gif http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_razz.gif) to do this to you:

quote:
1170-10 GELDING, 3 years old. Already he’s 16.1 hands! Chestnut with LOTS OF WHITE including 4 socks! “Rusty Gun” is FLASH and a great mover too. No vices. Big, quiet and loving!! Trainer has many horses available so well worth your trip and has sold over 100 horses to happy buyers since 1997! Come see this big gelding at Great Lakes Downs. $2500

Contact Shane Spiess mornings at 313-420-2941 or farm 989-427-3205

I believe Shane Spiess is one of the better trainers from which to purchase a ottb here in MI, if I remember correctly. If I was in the market for a project, which I am definitely not, I would be tempted to grab him myself. Unfortunately, I would have to pay the trainer or one of her working students to work with him since I know nothing about horses and my dtr is way too busy with her own.

(you know you want this horse.....he's calling your name....."Oh, Beezer....come and get me.....")

Now, what about the other guy, Babe's match? Does his butt look funny to you, or is that the angle?

    Shane's a nice guy. I bought Ya-ya from him.

I do think he knew about her chips--he HAD to have known about her chips. I think he would have told me about them if I had asked the right questions. Like "does she have any chips?" http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_wink.gif

If you're interested in buying one of Shane's horses, ask a lot of questions and vet it. I learned my lesson!

    ARRRGGGGHHHHHH! You're killing me here!!

Seriously, who is near this horse who can look at him for me?? I just spoke to Mr. Beezer, who, when informed of Rusty's family connections, said, "Well, you can't get better than that, can you? I suppose this means it's destiny?" Mr. Beezer does, after all, owe me an anniversary present, and he said it could be a horse....

LOL! Give Jo Anne a call or email. She's the head CANTER lady. In fact, she started the whole CANTER thing. She'll be able to give you more info on him, and maybe another picture or two.

(You should GO FOR IT, though. You know you want to!)

Merry would kill me. My mother -- who envisions her Alla Czar 3-year-old as my next great horse -- would kill me. My other two pets (Sam and Tigger) would kill me.

But so help me ... it would be worth it. http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/yes.gif

Shiloh .... after two knee surgeries, it would not be difficult at all for Merry to catch Beezer http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_c.../icon_wink.gif ... In fact, what would be difficult would be for Beezer to get on a totally green just off the track OTTB!!!! (or Sam, or Tigger!!!)

Beezer, I am really interested if you aren't going to pursue him. If you are, I'll keep looking.

Would you mind letting me know?

You know, SoEasy, that is actually my GREATEST concern, lol! Mr. Beezer is quite adamant, however, that we should at least investigate the possibility of getting him, though ...

So, RioTex, if you could give me a day or two to think this through? The absolutely, most very important, first-thing-first is that he goes to a wonderful home! Whether it's in Southern California or Texas is less of an issue. http://chronicleforums.com/images/cu...milies/yes.gif
