Her color is Sable Champagne. Her dam is my SE AK Arabian mare, HF Macarena.

Layla is expected to mature about 13 hands. Is there anyone else in the group with Arab blooded sport type ponies?

Here are some photos of her from her foal pics to late summer. She's in winter fuzzy coat now.

    Wehrlegirl,
Thank you, we have a couple of Champagne Pony foals every year. They are stunning to look at aside from the wonderful temperaments and trainability of the foals by our stallion. He goes by Studley here at home but his ICHR reg name is Lil Champagne Tease. His color is Sable Champagne Appaloosa and he is 10.2 hands. We breed him to mares up to 15 hands. I used to have a wonderful Percheron mare from Jaegers Percherons in Iowa and my husband wanted me to try a breeding to her....never happened, lol, but I think we could have. I have a breeding chute with a raised platform in the back for him to mount the mares with ease and safety. I love that we can use him to taller mares but the really nice thing is that he is non-prepotent so he produces pony foals that are like the mare they are out of. We have produced a reg MFT Pony that is a replica of the foxtrotter breed and is very gaited. I'm starting her driving in the spring. I have a lovely, stock type appaloosa pony mare (11.2 hands) and she never fails to give us colorful ponies that are born ready to train. I wanted a "special" Arabian Pony so I found a mare that fit my requirements for type and I was not disappointed. Layla is a real jewel.

Here is "Studley" (aka Lil Champagne Tease). His DNA was part of the study at the University of Kentucky where they discovered the location of the gene for Champagne and developed the first test for it. He is also part of the Appaloosa Project, another study being done. They have just had a breakthrough that may revolutionize the way Appaloosa breeders breed for color.

Here is another foal by Studley, out of one of my MFT mares. This mare is solid black, not a white hair on her and Studley is heterozygous for appaloosa so imagine my surprise when she foaled this colorful colt. His name is Dusty, he will mature 13.2 to 14 hands. His color is Classic Champagne Appaloosa.

Wow...the neck fairy (and the eye fairy) certainly blessed this girl! She is Loffly!!!!

I hope Vineyridge looks at her mama's pedigree...exactly what has been discussed in a current thread in her damline...Blue Larkspur daughter on the tail female line with a Black Toney X LaTroienne son on top

My Grace (Belle Ami M - Bliss MF x Mumsy by Corlando) is growing up...

    Like mother, like daughter...

With her "sisters". The one on the right is also by Bliss MF. And amusingly, Grace is a month younger than the other two... I think she might be a monster - she's only 5 months!

Second: due near July 1, by Rousseau, out of our Elite mare candidate Royal Princess/Royal prince/Banter. What a great matchup!

Will consider in utero sale to right home. www.kishorse.com

Grayfox, it sure shows that it pays off to 1) have quality broodmares and 2) to know how to pick the right stallion for them. Congrats on producing some very lovely kids, and by stallions OTHER than Redwine as well!
