Default Living by the Seasons vs Living by the Calendar: Which is for You?

While all of the hoopla over the change of the calendar year is great, I was thinking of deer while driving home over the back roads last night (trying not to hit one), and it occurred to me that they live by the seasons instead of the calendar: winter, spring, etc. It seems to me that it is easier to live by the seasons instead of grinding on month by month through the calendar, and puts one closer to nature as well.

Which way is easier for you?

    I live by the seasons.

    Right now it's hunting season.

Seriously - I live by the seasons and I do think it is a less artificial way to live. Don't know if it's easier though. Spring - planting. Summer - growing - Fall - harvest - winter - fields rest and hunting begins.

I live by both. I'd prefer to live only by seasons since it would make life easier if I only had to pay the bills 4 times per year!
And of course on a farm the 4 seasons are: Ice, Mud, Bugs and Hunting.
    You jump in the saddle,
    Hold onto the bridle!
    Jump in the line!

It is much easier for me to live by seasons, but the calendar does make it easier to remember birthdays and such. This year mud seems to have arrived before ice.

My body lives by the seasons, but my head lives by the calendar. Right now, all my body can think about is how it will be perpetually cold until sometime in April, then it will be happy again. My internal clock is also taking joy in the fact that we are past the solstice which means (marginally) LONGER days. My body would really prefer to hibernate this time of year, but takes immense amount of pleasure in the sunny, warm, wonderful 3/4 of the rest of the year.

My head lives by the calendar because someone has to keep track of shoeing schedules, vaccination schedules, birthdays, opening days for events and what dates events fall on. The seasons don't help with that side of life very much!
