    Default What are you drinking?

    Can't believe I haven't seen this thread yet--know we've had it before

I'm currently nursing a glass of 18 yo scotch. Macallan. Neat, of course.

Not my usual evening beverage, but toasting to something important tonight and felt something special was in order.

    You?

Wanna share that scotch, Simkie?? I'm 'bout froze up from doing chores in temps that are flirting with -20°F and 40 below windchills.

All I got is cold coffee, and not about to make another pot at this hour.

Cheap port was my last beverage before tucking in...

Had Sam Adams Cream Stout with the Irish Stew.

Would pretty much sell my soul for a good bottle of Irish Cream--been craving for weeks.

Will do Barefoot's new Moscato Di'Asti for next week.

There's a FABULOUS cheap Moscato now that I really loff. Sadly, white wine keeps me awake when I should be sleeping. Barefoot's Moscato is actually my favorite.

    Yes, I'm cheap *and* easy.

Pinto, when I was a little girl, our neighbors would make Irish Cream and hand it out for Christmas. I remember getting "just a sip!" every now and then, and DAMN was it tasty!!

And sure, sk_pacer, I'll share It's been cold here today, but not THAT cold. And I've been able to not leave the house. (Horse is boarded!)

Yum! Moscato is pretty much the only wine (or alcohol) that I really LIKE. I had some earlier (Bug Juice--$15.99 at Premier), and it was fab. And I have another bottle .

Wiki tells me Muscato and Muscat are the same thing.

If so, you MUST try the Quady Muscats. They even have a red. They are quite tasty, and NOT expensive--the Electras are usually $8ish/bottle where I am. Too sweet for me generally, but very nice in the summer with club soda over ice.

    Here's their website: http://www.quadywinery.com/wines.html

    Iced tea, sweet.

But I have a bottle of Pinot Grigio in the fridge that I may crack open here eventually, although if I do that I'll have to pick up another before the boyfriend gets back in town Monday.

'Tis the season for Pennsylvania Dutch Eggnog.

I don't like eggnog. That doesn't matter in the least. The Pennsylvania Dutch brand is very little egg and about 4 different kinds of nog. You sip it veeeeery slowly or you don't stand up too well.

Otherwise, my normal beverages are tea and all the flavors of Diet Coke/Coke Zero. Although I do also like the specialty dessert wines from the Amana Colonies up in Iowa, especially Dandelion and Rhubarb. Sadly, they no longer make Honey wine. That stuff was just like bottled sunshine.

My parents' home made egg nog that they make every year. The recipe is from the 70s edition of Joy of Cooking.

Heavy cream, eggs, icing sugar, rum and peach shnapps.

Soooo delicious. Makes you a bit wobbly though.
