Ya know, there's a certain elegance to his ability to stay over the horse, not hit the ground, and retrieve his stirrups while the little horse is gamely pounding toward the next jump. Every time I get that much hang time I land on the ground, not the horse.
How can the rider even tolerate that kind of impact? It is a guy on the horse isn't it? Probably will not be able to have children after that ride.
If you watch closely, you can see him catch himself with his hands before he lands. And then he gently eases himself into the saddle. Well, for most of them..some look REALLY painful (the one's he doesn't catch with his hands..)
^^ This video has been passed around a lot, actually. But everytime I watch it..it hurts worse! x] I do remember somebody saying that this guy isn't a normal show jumper though; I think somebody said they did a switcheroo class where different disciplines switched? Can't be too sure on that though.
The rider is a Portuguese professional Polo-Player named Vitor Goncalves. This horrible riding was meant to be a "gag" at a jumping competition in Lisbon. I doubt that the horse thought this gag was funny. The German magazine cavallo reported about it in No 12/2009
