I think I have the correct plug-in, as I just did an update for it....the races just aren't showing up in the video window.
I wasn't sure if maybe its because the videos are a year old....hmm. I'll try again

Okay, I AM going to update my blog SOON. But I'll just say a couple quick things here...
After owning him for over 4 months, I saw River canter for the first time a couple days ago. I decided to longe him now that the rain has gone away and the footing is good. He was feeling frisky! I even had him trot/canter over an elevated pole and he was a very good boy.
He's putting weight on, slowly but surely. He's not where we want him to be, but with 10 pounds of Ultium a day and a round bale, he's gaining and obviously feeling good.
His hair loss situation is both improving and getting worse. The places he lost hair previously are growing back, but other places are just starting to lose hair. Poor guy looks kinda stupid, lol.
My BO adores him. Every time I see her, she tells me how much she likes him and how glad she is that I got him. Her FLF, Dr Lignom, is doing well. I've been longeing him a bit and we're going to get someone on him one of these days. Poor guy isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he is such a sweetie.
ETA: Here's video of River.

Yet another short feature from Fools R Us
From our 4-1-12 working equitation show. Please note the date and keep that in mind when you view the film.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy03OCqBXzQ
We also attended a derby yesterday and while we had 2 refusals, we are very much improved from our previous score of 197.58 ppts. We came down to 77 (woo-hoo!), which was a 3rd placing. And, we got to school the course twice after the show was over and he didn't stop once. We cantered most of the approaches the 2nd & 3rd time around and even added a small 2'3" skinny stadium fence going down hill that, since it didn't bother me it didn't bother him (muscle memory from all that eventing in NYS makes the slight hills here a breeze ). The video is awful (person who took it not very techno-savvy) and very jerky. Will see what I can salvage from it and possible post for viewing.
Will be going again the Sat of Mother's Day weekend. Before that, there is a hunter pace on April 29th. Job prospects are really looking up (some pieces on the board still in motion but I think that they are going to fall in place rather nicely) so I will have both income and weekends free and will be able to take him places. AND, do a few lessons and clinics. Hurray!

I had to laugh at the picture of Taters with a forelock full of burrs. Last summer I found my mare in a simular situation, only she doesn't have much of a forelock - it was her tail that made me cringe!
River looks great, hopefully with the spring grass he will gain those extra pounds.
FF - your video doesn't work!!
We have a schooling combined test next weekend (where we get to riding the eventing tests Training A and B for the first time), a lesson a little more than a week after that, and then May 6th GVRDC combined test where I've entered the training division!

Dazzle 'em with The Jolly's extended trot!
Gods! That used to be my backyard. I was 20 min from Rolelu by car (30 min w/horse trailer). Had some fun times there. Used to own about 4.6 acres on Woodruff Rd (Lima) between Livonia Center and Poplar Hill Rds...
My next outing will be a Hunter Pace the last Sun of April then another derby the Saturday before Mother's Day

Inky is currently at H/J boot camp and trainer loves him, thinks he will be a really good hunter. Apparently he has auto lead changes that are worth their weight in gold.

My poor BO, every day she goes out and winces at River's issues. First it was the progressive baldness (which we're reasonable sure is seasonal alopecia), now it's matching scrapes on his hind legs above his hocks. How did he do it? No one knows. But of course it was River. Of COURSE. I swear, all the other horses are injury-proof because Riv is the problem magnet.

Well our combined test went ok. It started out pretty terrible, with a mare in heat who warmed up quite well (me thinking "oh this is going to be sweet, I am going to NAIL these dressage tests!), until we enter the ring and we begin doing things I didn't even know the mare would do (run sideways in our canter circles). So Novice B test was pretty awful, judge comment: It happens to everybody.
Left ring, go back to warm up where amazing dressage mare reappears. Soft, supple, no fussing (she pretty much had a temper tantrum in Novice B at one point). Shrug it off, go back into ring for Training A test, we did a lot better, still having some issues connecting her hind end to her front end (she would not give me a right rein, to her it no longer existed) and still rather tense in some spots, but markedly improved with some movements we did quite well. Judges comments included "may need remedial work" and "perhaps work below this level for horse to regain confidence". Yeah, oh well...
Training B, much better - still some sticky issues where she reminded me that at any moment she could either a) break into a canter if i didn't try and control her hind end or b)kick out with displeasure. She refrained from doing either, in this test. We ended with a 34.1, which was much better score than either of the other two tests. Jumping was fine - they were quite small and she was pretty happy to no longer be in a dressage ring!
Training Test B

And no, I don't think I'm going to embarrass ourselves and upload novice b or training a, haha just take my word on it, it was very, very no good, awful, and bad.

Her jumping looked quite nice as well. Hope to see you in a few wks at GVRDC CT.
PS. I'd loved to have seen Novice B test with her canter circles.
She has a couple stages of heat, in the beginning of her cycle she is like this - pissy, spooky, sensitive. After a day or two of that, she could care less of anything that's going on in the world, as long as she can straddle her legs she is happy. She was at the leg straddling part of heat at Carol's.
I am going to try a few things the vet suggested (and I pulled her off the depo just to see how much a difference there was). I think the depo does lesson the cycle/symptoms quite a bit. Vet wants me to add more magnesium to her diet and see if symptoms improve, and also try some banamine and see if that helps with the crampy symptoms (unwilling to move forward). Got to love mares

Hellenic Jet, now named "Tavi," is doing fabulous. She had the winter to just sit around and be a horse. I started her into work 2 weeks ago and WOW. She is incredible. The mind on this mare could not be better. Quiet, quiet, quiet, and willing. Sound, barefoot, and easy. I am in love. I haven't been this excited about a horse in a long time. She's incredible.
I will try to get some new photos. She is stunning. I am so pleased!
If riding were all blue ribbons and bright lights, I would have quit long ago.
