Default Name Help. Any Ideas pics and pedigree included

Bought a 3yr old OTTB gelding in September . He is dark, brown, sometimes looks black and sometimes a more seal-y brown depending on the light. He has two small (dime-sized) stars under his forelock.

He is not incredibly social with people or horses. He's not mean he is just the type of horse that likes to people/horse watch. Very observent, just not really a participant. Riding wise he's a saint and klind of wise beyond his years and training. But after you ride he does this funny protest thing when you put him in the stall he will crow-hop and head-toss, etc. Like he is a big boy asserting his displeasure. Then he goes back to being a bump on the log, lol

His registered name in No Halo 3. I am not going to show him as “No Halo” and am looking for ideas for a show name. His barn name is halo.

Attached is his pedigree for name ideas. http://www.pedigreequery.com/no+halo3

I was thinking include the halo or something that has to do with angels, light, etc. The definition of halo is divine aura, but I don’t necessarily like that.

Here are some pics of him when we first got him.

His registered name is "No Halo". The 3 is just an indication that he's the third horse of that name entered in pedigreequery (there's an '81 mare and '72 British mare with the same name.)

Here he is on equineline (which, fyi, cannot be user-modified so will be the more accurate one).

Master Chief? (Halo the game joke.)

THIS! Haha, my brothers play Halo so this was the first name I thought of as well. When DH and I get our next dog (a Great Dane) his name is going to be Master Chief, but you can borrow it for now if you want

Dark Sunshine (when I saw "Halo" I thought of Sunny's Halo; though once I saw your guy's pedigree I realized he's a relative, not a descendant). "Dark Sunshine" was a buckskin mare in a wonderful Dorothy Lyons horse novel; the horse's name was the title.

Is the light in his stall a lot different from the light outside? If so, the contrast could cause his acting up.

    good names.

as far as the light yes the stall is darker than the aisle way, ring etc. He did this when i picked him up at the track too. he stood perfectly while we fawned over him and then we put him in the stall and he snorted and crow hopped. He will do the same thing on cross ties after riding, he will jig a bit and head toss. Its like he is getting his opinion across about being ridden, though he wouldnt dare do it under saddle. I think its just a personality quirk...though you raise a good point.

Maybe "silent opposition" should be his name

I think you've got great name suggestions! Nothing to add, but wanted to say that I have several Temperance Hill babies on the farm (through the dam as well), and they are FANTASTIC. Great Great minds.

Good luck with him - he's adorable!!

Just wanted to add that Hay Patcher was the dam of Broad Brush who was an extremely durable multiple Grade 1 winner who led the sires list a time or two. Temperance Hill won the Belmont, so he should have lots of endurance and he's very cute to boot!
