    Default Wow.

    Wow.

Me + staying up late + looking at lovely TBs = searching for low-cost plane tickets.

Any chance someone in PA can snatch up Surprise Inside for me, and I'll come get him in about 2 weeks? Anyone??

Good choice. Suprise Inside, Gypsy Trance and Rexy's Honey Bear were my picks on conformation.

Go Get him!!!! This time of year, these horses need to be moved FAST! Cold weather is comming very soon and the northern tracks close down, forcing trainers to move elsewhere. they dont want to take these horses with them.

Even though his price is what is listed; call the trainers! Ask them what their rock bottom price is and you're very interested. Some of these trainers can also help out on a shipping situation. It only takes a phone call and its always worth calling just to ask...just tell them you're seriously interested in the horse but the price and shipping price combined could be a bit steep.

this track isnt far from New holland and i know a lot of people wont admit it but a lot of the horses from this track at this time of year, who cant find homes, somehow, either way, find their way to the auction circuit.

please im begging you to call....HE WOULD LOOK LOVELY IN YOUR BARN!!!

Make an offer....I have a friend that went to Suffolk last year at the end of the meet. She bought a couple of horses, and at the last minute there was a grey she liked that was listed for $3999. She asked the trainer if she made a low ball offer if he would be offended. He asked what it was. She offered $500 Trainer accepted Not every trainer will accept an offer that low, but they're willing to negotiate!!

Why do so few of the Mid-Atlantic listings have names?

A lot of trainers dont really give out reg names. With that many horses being listed every week; it becomes a lot to keep track of. The last thing i think they want to happen is to accidentally confuse names and then have people look up the wrong stuff on the wrong horse. Its much easier to read the description and call and talk with the trainer and then ask for the reg. name. Ive tagged a long with CANTER and most will give out barn names if they have them. Other times the grooms are the only ones around and they dont know the reg. names.

AFAIK, almost all the horses on the Finger Lakes board are listed by registered name.

If Lucky to Cope weren't headed my way (likely hitching a ride with Western Buff and Rockywithanattiude as far as Michigan) I would be very tempted by Karakorum Patriot. Some nice old campaigners at Finger Lakes.

I really really really like Rock and Roll Roan, thank god he isn't on the west coast!!

I wish I could afford to buy another horse, let alone afford the upkeep. =( I knew I shouldn't have looked at these ads!

Somebody get him so I can live vicariously. =)

I also adored Rock and Roll Roan. If I could have a horse... I would have him!

I think someone in the thread on Off-Course is calling on Rock and Roll Roan. He IS lovely, isn't he?

There's a hauler taking Lucky to Cope, Western Buff, and Rockywithanattiude on Monday....I think he has a five-horse and he's headed to Colorado with at least one drop-off on the way. I think he's got room for at least one more...

Because a lot of these horses are still being entered to race, and listings online saying "slow" could affect the betting (which the powers that be don't love). As a result back in the day track management would tell people to remove horses they saw on the listings. So it's a policy at Charles Town that we don't list the names of horses still actively racing there.

If they are on the farm or the trainer says to, we'll put a name up.

(and often the photos are labelled by name so if you open the large versions and go to the photo properties you can figure it out )

We've not had the issue of registered names come up at Finger Lakes... funny - I'd not even though in terms of descriptions affecting the betting odds .

I wanted to point out that although there are indeed urgent needs horses at Finger Lakes many of the owner/trainers do have a home farm to take their horses to so the end of the meet doesn't necessarily mean the end of the horse.

We'll certainly update you on extreme urgent cases when we hear of them... and naturally the trainers would like to move their horses so if you are interested please do call.

Thanks so much for all of your interest in the Thoroughbreds at CANTER and FingerLakes looking for new homes and careers.

I usually post on the off-course or racing forums, but lurk a lot here. I'm a volunteer with the Finger Lakes Trainer's Listings and am familiar with many of the horses listed because I've worked on the backside for many years.

Karakorum Patriot is a classy, solid, iron horse. Nuff said!

Rock and Roll Roan is a gorgeous horse, full of personality and was my DIL's favorite gallop in the morning. Beautiful movement, very forward and....priced high (I'm hearing $4,000).

Somewhereinbetween is STILL available and would make a sound, quiet, willing little children's h/j. She's very sweet and just not into racing anymore.

How about Hillbilly Deluxe?? That guy is imposingly big and still has some growing to do. Fortunately, he's quiet and sensible, at least he was when we were trying to get him to square up for photos. This guy should be appealing to someone looking for a really big horse.

I can go on and on. How many of you would be willing to hitch up the trailer and just show up at the track on any given day in the next couple of weeks? Volunteers from the Trainer's Listings will avail themselves to escort you around the backside and chances are you'll make some deals.

Contact either me, Louise or Maunder and we'll make every effort to work with you. As Maunder said, not all of these horses are in peril, but some of them are.

Based on my experiences this year, I have gotten 3 off the track or farm; all for a lot less then the asking prices (mine were in this order: Free, 500.00 and 700.00)

So, make an offer! These horses have to go to new homes asap.
