    Default Winter pasture for pony

I put my pony on a much needed diet - and he is starting to look normal again. I keep him in basically a dry lot, but wonder if he can join my other horse in a larger field. I am in Michigan - so my question is, when the grass starts to go dormant is it still high in calories? The pasture is pretty well eaten down - but I don't want to backtrack on the progress we have made!

    Thanks!
