    Default Clifton/Fairfax Station, VA - Board ??

    Hey Clifton peeps,
I am trying to help my friend who is looking for a place suitable to board her old guy -- Thoroughbred about 28. A Virginia Gentleman. The owner is nice too !! And she is very hands on and devoted to him. They lost the place that has been their home for 10 years. Would love to stay in Clifton area or Fairfax County. A run-in shed situation would be fine -- that is what he is used to. Or a stall. My friend can help with work/feeding if needed. Thanks for any tips !! Feel free to PM me.

I don't get it. Does she just want somewhere to plop him or is she actually looking for a barn where she can come and go with him as she pleases?

No plop. He is retired and she comes to visit him and care for him regularly. Full board, partial board, co-op situation. He is her riding horse now retired. She will care for him for the rest of her life. She is looking for something quiet. Suitable for an older kind of horse.

ginger, when I was in that area, the Clifton Horse Society was a great resource for finding the small, private barns that took in boarders in that area. I'd recommend your friend try to contact someone there and start networking that way. The ladies at Clifton Saddlery were also very helpful in finding those word-of-mouth gems for low-key boarding of various types.

    Default Clifton-ish peep here

Red Maple Farm on Henderson has an opening.

Also, check on Windswept Farm on Braddock Rd (near GMU). They had an opening and they do co-op.

And one other place you should check out.

    Good luck!!
