    Default Damn, another one slaughtered

Just read on another bb that yet another horse has been slaughterered in Miami...a 4 year old TB. I guess I am not surprised, just hoped that it was over though.

I don't think it will ever be over unless regulated horse slaughter for human consumption is reintroduced. There are many people and cultures who eat horse meat the way nearly everyone eats cow and so all that has been created by banning it is a huge black market. Very unfortunate. I really feel terrible for these horse owners.

Well, as County would have pointed out that lifestock ranchers have to deal with that plenty.

Yes, horsemeat for human consumption to be legal is one way to eliminate the market, but let's face it, the shady underbelly of society is always ready, willing and able to turn a profit from nothing (as in with no overhead etc.)

I suppose things would be bad enough if they would not steal horses (or leave the remains in the pasture) and grab themselves some 'prospects' a the local auction, but I suppose that would draw attention to them...

No easy answer, and it sucks on so many levels.

Small local places would really help out a lot of these cases.

I can't even imagine what those owners are going through.
