I loved watching this tough gelding run. He always tried his heart out and won over three-quarters of a million dollars. He ran mainly in listed/restricted stakes, allowance and high-level claiming races, IIRC, but had started dropping down the ranks towards the end of his career.
Anyway, does anyone know where he ended up? From the (admittedly cursory) research I've done, I see that someone did step in to make sure he has the retirement he deserves. But where?
Thanks - what a great life for this guy! I pulled for him every time I saw he was running, had him in my virtual stable, just 'cause I liked his hard-knocking attitude. How sick would it have made me if he'd been all used up.
He's a handsome boy too - very workmanlike. I see he does have a few "battle scars", but those really add some character.
Kudos to the McPeeks and everyone else who worked so hard to give this favorite of mine a good retirement.
