I am currently getting my masters so I had to sell my horse for financial reasons last summer. I have taken lessons when I have had time but would really love to be able to ride a bit more. I have a lot of experience with hunter/jumpers and would love to be able to ride again, I'm having some horsey withdrawals. If anyone has a horse that needs some work or possibly a cheap free lease/half lease would be great!
Very sweet 16.2h 15y/o OTTB gelding looking for a confident intermediate rider for free half lease. No cost to ride the horse just pay half his monthly board. I will take care of everything else. I am 19 weeks pregnant so will not be able to ride much longer, and I hate to see him sit. He's fine not having a job but does much better with one.
Boy is fine for a beginner in the ring but needs at least a confident intermediate rider on the trails. He likes to go! W/T/C fine but has not jumped in a while. Was doing 2'6" previously. He's forward to the jumps and thinks about where he needs to be, he also needs a confident intermediate to advanced rider over fences because sometimes he feels he needs no input from his rider and wants do things his way. Nice facilities with a 60x120 indoor a 60x180 outdoor and lots of trails and mountains to explore. He's brave and confident and often times will want to check out places we have not been. He's very sweet and is a good honest guy.
My horse is riderless at the moment. I just don't have the time he needs or deserves. He's a 20yo imported SF gelding. He's sound and sane. Used to show the AA circuit and is a packer at 3' and can still do 3'6 when in better shape. Even though he's an old man he doesn't know it. Best suited for an intermediate or advanced rider because he does have a motor. No spook, stop, buck, etc in him. He's also schooled xc and LOVES it. He's trail ridden all over. Just overall a wonderful guy.
If you're interested just PM me and I'll send you some more info. He is located in Severance, CO - just east of Fort Collins.

I am in search of some saddle/barn time! I moved to NoVa about a year ago and haven't had the time or money lesson or lease as I had hoped. I am experienced and have ridden with and worked for some top dressage and eventing trainers in the northeast. I am a vet hospital manager, so my schedule sometimes makes a regular riding schedule difficult. I am more than happy to pitch in with barn chores when I come to ride! Hoping to find a place near Fairfax, Va (home) or Alexandria, Va (work).
When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
I have a gorgeous, huge Haflinger that is needing to be ridden more. I have too many horses and not enough time. Goes English and western. He is the prettiest Haflinger ever! He is strong but with work he goes really well. He loves to be worked with and is great on trails. He has jumped a couple of times before too. We trailer out to trails all the time and I am sure he would love someone to lease him. I also have a couple of other horses the person could ride too.
My gelding has been off and on lameness problems so I'm looking for rides until he is sound again (or long term).
I ride english and western, have experience with eventing, h/j, eq, dressage, gaming, western pleasure, etc. I've ridden plenty of green horses and problem horses, I'm a soft and gentle, but a no nonsense rider.
I can provide references from vets, farriers, boarders, etc.
I have a fancy gelding warmblood hunter in the Leesburg/Aldie VA area for quarter or half lease - show lease available!
He's a great jumper (hasn't refused a fence since I've owned him) who courses up to 3ft and has flying lead changes. He's great on trail (just not water) by himself or in a group and is a huge love-bug. He's quiet at shows and a really fancy mover and would be the perfect summer show horse for a confident rider!
He's light in the mouth and frames nicely but needs a confident rider as he's very sensitive and can be lazy/take advantage of someone who isn't confident and self assured.
Not too far from the center of the political universe
DC area re-riders take note: Confidence-builder available for half-lease
Attention adult advanced beginners and re-riders in DC/Alexandria! This is a rare opportunity to half-lease a gorgeous, friendly 16'3" TB/Paint who takes very good care of his people and gets extremely attached to them. Gaits smooth as velvet--very easy and fun to rider. Farm has large indoor and outdoor rings and fantastic rideoout along the Potomac across the street from the farm. A-circuit trainer gives on-site lessons, which are required. Friendly group of riders who show together in Va., Md. and occasionally Pa.
Hi.. horse is coming back from an injury and needs someone who'd just enjoy putzing around in the indoor once in a while, 20 or 30 min at a clip. This is not a beginner horse but he's very much the steady eddie.
Please PM me here with your horse-history and location if interested. Thanks.
Horseless rider in the Northern Virginia area. Through no fault of her own, my 14 (15 in July) year old DD is looking to pick up a ride or two. We cannot afford to lease but she is good in the barn and absolutely willing to wrap/walk/groom/clean tack etc. She is confident on the flat and o/f up to 3'3-3'6" with a nice soft riding style and completely independent seat and hand. She likes a naughty pony or two and is willing to hop on greenies if they have a brain and aren't dangerous. Is probably most comfortable in the 3' ring right now (children's hunters or low children's jumpers, or 3' medal classes...had a ride lined up all summer to show a NICE horse once each show at HITS Culpeper in the 250k 3' hunter prix but that horse is now out with a career ending injury). Has shown hunters, jumpers and eq with wins in all three rings. I am willing to drive her a fair bit from our location in Fredericksburg - she has ridden from Richmond to Culpeper to Winchester, to Southern MD. Willing to take her anywhere for the right opportunity, she is likely going to homeschooling for the next year at least. Perfectly happy to help someone put miles on an investment animal. Enjoys getting ride time outside the ring too if you have fox hunters or polo ponies that need kept in shape. Hasn't gone cross country before but I will be taking her for a couple lessons in that area this summer. Just a nice kid with a good brain who would love some regular saddle time.
Near Winchester Va Horses need to be trained/ridden
We have five Peruvian Paso's, four pure bred and one Arabian mix. Two have never been ridden. Three have not been ridden or handled for years. Small farm in West Virginia between Winchester, Virginia and Charles Town, West Virginia.
A good "green" horse project for the right person.
Please PM us if interested.
Not quite horseless, but l'm looking for opportunities closer to my home. I am 30 and 5'10" and have shown through 4th level dressage (PSG debut next weekend). I'm looking for a 3rd level or up dressage horse for lease or partial lease near Bloomington, IL.
I may also be interested in a hunter or event horse in the area. I have done both hunters and lower level eventing in the past, but will need to refresh my jumping skills.
The ideal horse for me would be a confident horse over 16 hands who is available at least 3 days/week. I offer a strong background in dressage, excellent horsemanship skills, top notch care, references upon request, and flexibility in terms of scheduling.
If you have or know of a horse in this area or available for non-local lease, please PM me or email firstname.lastname@example.org
We have two super nice horses near Aldie for the right person. The requirements are for someone who has experience with owning their own horse in the past, and is knowledgeable about working a horse correctly. The rider will be expected to pitch in with chores. There are always opportunities to attend competitions and xc schoolings. Feel free to send me a PM.
Horseless Rider - W. Orlando/Kissimmee/Winter Gardens area
I'm down in Florida for a 6 month internship and hoping to keep up my riding and get some good horse time in. I specialize in Dressage and working with young horses. My dressage skill is solid 2nd level, some 3rd level and I have evented & ridden h/j in the lower levels... I've jumped 3'-3'6" courses in the past but now only enjoy doing lower stuff on a horse I trust. I've worked with gentling mustangs and babies, various breeds and ages and love watching and helping them learn. My riding/training has been praised by several instructors and clinicians including Mark Rashid. I worked in the horse industry for years in various positions including groom, trainer, and instructor but I'm now just looking to keep it an active hobby while I pursue a career in the entertainment world.
I have a resume on request and am looking for an opportunity that I may be able to ride 2-3 days a week as my schedule allows. I'm in my mid-twenties, 5'6"-ish and around 100lbs so ponies are not a problem at all. In fact I love them and other smaller breeds! I'm open to training, arena work, or just some casual trail riding. I've owned two horses (Polish Arab and TB) in the past and both were loved to bits and often praised for their happy dispositions and good manners!

Reason: some extra info added
I am a young professional in my late 20's. I am a responsible horse owner (have a BS in animal science) and a fairly accomplished rider. I currently own two of my own, a retired tb and a young holsteiner who will hopefully make it as an A/O jumper. My youngster won't be ready to be started for another 8 months or so and I am getting a little antsy. About a year ago, I relocated from the midwest to Atlanta.
I have been riding for the past 23 years. Most of that time was spent riding with a well known and accomplished rider (USDF gold medal) and breeder in the midwest. I focused most of my time working for him putting miles on his freshly started 3 year olds and keeping the stallion's in work while he was out of town at shows and clinics. Most of my show experience has been in the hunter and jumper rings. I competed many of my trainer's babies in the baby and pre greens and my own in the jumper ring. I have also evented up to training level. The trainer I used to ride for focused on dressage. I have a solid dressage background and know how to properly work and start a youngster with patience, a soft hand, and a gentle seat. I have started, competed, and sold multiple horses over the past few years.
I am not looking to become a trainer. I have a non-horsey career that I love and have put that part of my life behind me and wish to maintain my amatuer status. What I am looking for is someone who may need some help starting a young warmblood or keeping up with their horses's training. My ideal situation would be a barn with 2-3 young ones that you would like some help with twice 2-3 times a week. I am comfortable jumping a 4'3'' course and working through a 3rd level dressage test. While, a horse with that kind of expereince would be great to ride, I am just as happy working with a talented youngster and I really enjoy watching the progress they make.
I mostly just miss riding consistently and being around horsey people. I am happy to help out at shows schooling, lunging, or showing in hand. I am also really good at marketing a horse for sale and have had great luck starting horses and then transitioning them to new homes.
I live in Atlanta (VA Highlands area). Knowing the limitations of barns super close to the city, if there would be a few horses that needed some work at one location I would be willing to drive up to an hour. I do work a full-time day job and would be available in the evenings and weekends.
Hi! I have a small private farm off Shattalon Drive near Yadkinville Road in Winston-Salem, NC. I am an adult re-rider and was fostering an OTTB last year, but it turned out she had ankle chips ... My boarders of two years are about to leave, and I will have no animals to "mow" my 4 acres of pasture. I and my husband work full-time, and even if I get a couple horses, I won't have time to pick the pastures and won't have barn coverage when I'm out of town. I'm looking for the right person (read: mature, reliable, responsible) to offer free board in exchange for sharing the work. I have a roundpen and hope to add a true arena in the next year or two, although our pastures are flat and perfectly ride-able. I'd also perhaps consider getting two horses, and offer someone riding privileges in exchange for work. I'm going to have a Parelli instructor and a dressage instructor out -- the schedule had been once per week each when I had the OTTB, although less in the winter.
I'm going into my senior year of college in Williamsburg, VA and I'm looking for someone to full/half lease my 6 year old 15.1 Trakehner cross. I haven't had a chance to compete anywhere with him since I've owned him, (I bought him in 2010) but he's great off property, hacks out alone, rides well by himself in the arena, jumps whatever you put in front of him, and has been cross country schooling a few times in the past. I've started him slowly and correctly and he's learned to be very supple with the bit and accepting of his rider. He's also very handy and athletic, and is super fun to ride.
Lease terms are flexible to the right situation. I wish I had more time to give him the attention he deserves! Please PM me for more info if interested.
