    Default Deaf Black cat?

I had a stray kitty show up last winter. She has been happily living on my front porch.

She is as a 6 toed kitty-though I can't find any connection to that.

    She is solid black.

    Deaf as deaf can be.

Any reason that would cause this that could be corrected?

Probably not. Unless it's severe ear mite infection causing inner ear infection/inflammation, chances are it's permanent.

She should live indoors, ideally, for her own safety.

I know she should. I am trying to sort out what to do.

I feel 'ok' at THIS moment because she really stays put. BUT this is not a long term solution.

I have 2 aussies and REALLY worry at her inside with them. But it may be better since they are kitty aware.

I am trying to work with her and can now pet her. She waits every morning and looks in the window for me for her food. It is SO sad. If she misses me, she keeps looking and has no idea when I am RIGHT there.

I would think she could sense me but no.

I need to just get her to the vet and bring her in...I just adopted to 5-6 month old kittens.

Now I guess Deaf darling will make 3.

Unless anyone has any other suggestions?

Is she blind too? Why can't she tell you are there?

Maybe your vet can find a good home for her where her needs will be properly addressed?

You have a good heart for caring for her for so long and giving her love.

Oh she can see! It is when she is looking in the window for me and I come up behind her (not to be mean but so she knows I have her food)

If she catches a glimpse of me, she knows...but she does not hear the slightest noise.

I will speak to my vet this week-I just know how full shelters are AND how many strays vets are faced trying to home.

I would hate to trust in someone to love her and it be wrong.

My house is not close to the road and I swear she never leave my yard. I guess that is why I keep thinking I will think about it tomorrow!

I have a live trap if you need it.

thanks bird...I have one as well-the last stray around here caused em to trap every cat in the neighborhood before I got the intended kitty!

I can touch her so I could 'snag' and crate her.

I don't want to do that and take her for a vet exam without a post snag plan.

I fear I will scare her and then if she comes back to my patio, she may leave and really be unsafe.

Maybe someone locally will see this and could offer her a safe inside home...but I would hate to see her go also!

    Selfish, aren't I.

My cat quota is maxed out. I've been feeding a stray tortoiseshell and I'm not sure what to do about her.

Three is a tea party. So why not. Remember the two strays I brought from Atlanta to California? I just could not leave them.
