Wink COTH giveaway TB mare gets approved!!!

Hopeforroyalty is a 1992 Kentucky bred TB mare. She ran in 4 races (with no placings), had some TB and QH babies, and who knows what else. She was found starved in a pasture in late 2008 by a fellow COTHer (the wonderful City Ponies). I found Hope through the giveaway forum and she came to live with me in May.

Here is some background info + pics...

After lots of TLC and groceries, I decided to take the old gal to an Oldenburg NA/ISR approval. Hope is booked to Cunningham for 2010 and I had hoped the resulting foal could be registered/branded.

For a 17 year old hunterish TB broodmare I wasn't really sure how we would do. Of course I LOVE this mare and think she is fabulous and will produce fabulous foals, but I am well aware of "barn blindness".

Well, my big, old rescue mare scored 101 points for (to quote the inspector) "an easy entry into the Main Mare Book...very nice for a thoroughbred"!

Here are a few pics from Tuesday's inspection...

The moral of my little post:
Please don't forget about the old gals and don't be afraid to take a chance on a rescue.
    Animals are not disposable!!!

What a lovely and heartwarming post (a little bit of tear welling up). She looks like a wonderful mare, so deserving of a loving home. I have a special place in my heart for these TB gals, especially those tossed around a bit. Thank you for sharing this bright bit of news with us and best wishes to you both.

Congratulations on your lovely mare and stallion choice. You shall, will, absolutely must post oodles of baby pics !!!!

P.S. "very nice FOR A TB [emphasis mine]"!!!!????!!! It's remarks like that one that keep me away from inspections. If anyone should know "a good horse is a good horse"-- AND that many of the best are TB's-- it ought to be WB breeders! Seems to me they've spent most of the last 50+ years breeding for WB's who look and move like the ideal TB-- outcrossing like crazy to TB's in order to do it, too!
