I'm travelling to Buenos Aires in early October and would like to spend a few days at an estancia near Buenos Aires. Looking for one with horseback riding/ranching focus, but with comfortable accommodations and other activities for my not-so-avid-a-rider companion.
There are lots of choices, so looking for a recommendation. Anyone done this?
I have a few friends that have farms and play polo.
As for estancias close by, you could go to a quaint town about 100km from downtown Buenos Aires called San Antonio de Areco. This is the towns tourist website: http://sanantoniodeareco.com/turismo/
And this is a site of their estancias: http://sanantoniodeareco.com/turismo...cias/index.htm
La Porteña used to belong to a friend of mine. I can recall they had polo lessons there and the rooms were well decorated (so you have polo and estancia there... two in one). La Sofia also has polo lessons and is very nice.
It all depends what your companion likes to do...photography? Bird watching? Golf? Spa? Let me know and I will get back to you asap.
As for polo, there are matches all over from September on, specially in Pilar (polo capital of the world). I think the final of the Womens' Open is held downtown sometime in Oct., so maybe your lucky to see that.

I will see what I can come up with.
Over what hill? Where? When? I don\'t remember any hill....
